But an anonymous X account with a proven track record of leaking Apple software updates indicates there might be a new version of the already-released iOS 26.0.1 coming too.

Leaker reveals new build of iOS and iPadOS 26.0.1

Just as this past weekend was kicking off, an anonymous X account with a history of accurately leaking Apple software releases made a couple of curious posts.

The posts included a new build number for iOS and iPadOS 26.0.1.

Apple’s public release of the software versions was build 23A355.

But per this leaker, Apple has also now prepped a new 23A357 release.

The build number was followed up by a short post that simply read: “another 26.0.1?”

It is unusual for Apple to ship revised builds of software releases after the public launch. This happens from time to time with beta releases, but not often for publicly shipped software.

One possible explanation is that Apple has prepared the revised software for its forthcoming M5 iPad Pro.

In that scenario, perhaps the new software won’t actually ship for iPhone, only for this new iPad model.

It’s also possible that Apple will release the software for iPhone and iPad users alike, but only for users who have not already installed the previous iOS 26.0.1 build.

In any case, this X leaker has a strong track record with software releases, so we’ll be on the lookout for the new 23A357 build of iOS and iPadOS 26.0.1 soon.

Why do you think Apple might be prepping a revised iOS 26.0.1 release?
