{"id":223865,"date":"2025-10-14T11:35:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-14T11:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/223865\/"},"modified":"2025-10-14T11:35:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T11:35:09","slug":"china-sanctions-five-us-units-of-south-korean-ship-giant-hanwha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/223865\/","title":{"rendered":"China sanctions five US units of South Korean ship giant Hanwha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States launched a probe into China&#8217;s shipping industry &#8211; Copyright AFP -STR<\/p>\n<p>China imposed sanctions on five American subsidiaries of South Korean shipbuilder Hanwha Ocean on Tuesday, accusing them of supporting a US government investigation into the shipping industry, as tit-for-tat port fees took effect.<\/p>\n<p>The United States announced in April it would begin applying fees to all arriving Chinese-built and operated ships after a \u201cSection 301\u201d investigation found Beijing\u2019s dominance in the industry was unreasonable.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing responded last week by announcing \u201cspecial port fees\u201d on US ships arriving at Chinese ports.
