The nor\u2019easter is making an impact on Long Island\u2019s East End, causing flooding along Dune Road and raising concerns about ongoing beach erosion.<\/p>\n
\u201cDune Road \u2014 well, I couldn\u2019t even go down there today,\u201d said Rich Berglin, of Hampton Bays. \u201cI went about fifty feet and right away had to turn around. It was either that or do some damage to your car as it goes underwater.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to the street flooding, the storm also brought rough surf to the shoreline, including at Ponquogue Beach, where some residents ventured out to witness the waves firsthand.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe figured we\u2019d take a ride,\u201d said Brian Jurgens of Center Moriches. \u201cMy brother\u2019s up from Florida, so we wanted to spend a little time with him and check out the waves.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery time we have one of these nor\u2019easters, Mother Nature seems to gobble up more and more of the beach,\u201d Berglin said. \u201cThere\u2019s no easy answers, but it\u2019s truly frightening.\u201d<\/p>\n
