John Feffer is an Amherst author and director of Foreign Policy in Focus at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C. He has supported U.S. policy toward arming and supporting Ukraine to defeat Russia since its invasion of 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">John Berkowitz is a Northampton activist, and member of Massachusetts Peace Action\u2019s Ukraine Peace Campaign. He has opposed U.S. policy and supported a negotiated settlement, not military escalation that could lead to direct U.S.\/NATO confrontation with Russia, including nuclear war.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">Following these speakers, there will be a question-and-answer dialogue with the audience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">Sponsors of the forum are Forbes Library and the Massachusetts Peace Action Education Fund. For more information, call Forbes Library 413-584-1011 or email John Berkowitz at johnpberk@proton.me<\/p>\n<p>Hadley book sale coming up<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">HADLEY \u2014 The Friends of the Council on Aging are holding a book sale from July 30 through Aug. 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at the Senior Center, 46 Middle St.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">The sale will include both fiction and non-fiction, with hardcovers being sold for $2 and paperbacks for $1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">Anyone with gently used books is welcome to drop these off at the Friends office at the Senior Center by July 25.<\/p>\n<p>Amherst preps for annual book sale  <\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">AMHERST \u2014 The Amherst League of Women Voters Giant Book Sale is being held in the gym at Fort River Elementary School, 70 South East St., July 25 to July 27 and Aug. 2 and 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">On the first weekend, the sale will run on the Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the weekend dates from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The second weekend the sale runs again from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with leftover day on Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">In addition to regular hardcovers and paperbooks, there will be rare books, coffee table and children\u2019s books, DVDs and compact discs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">Thoiugh construction is ongoing on the site for a new elementary school, the site is still accessible via the northernmost driveway and there is plenty of parking.<\/p>\n<p>Littleville Fair in Chester coming up<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">CHESTER \u2014 The Littleville Fair, organized by the Community Fair Association of North Chester, Chester Hill and Littleville Inc., will celebrate its 103rd year on Aug. 1-3 at 15 Kinnebrook Road in Chester. Admission is only $10, with children ages 12 years and under free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">Gates open Friday, Aug. 1, at 4 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 7 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">For more information and a schedule of events, visit littlevillefair.com\/.<\/p>\n<p>Granby Library to hold fall book sale<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">GRANBY \u2014 The Friends of the Granby Free Public Library will host its annual monthly Fall\u00a0Book\u00a0Sale\u00a0during the month of September in the Community Room of the Library. Participants will be able to choose from a large assortment of used and like-new\u00a0hardcover, softcover, paperback\u00a0books, teen\u00a0books\u00a0and children\u2019s\u00a0books, along with a selection of CDs, DVDs, video games and audiobooks.\u00a0The sale will run during regular library hours from Sept. 2-30.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"tinytext\">The library is now accepting donations of hardcover and paperback\u00a0books, DVDs, music CDs, playable video games, and audiobooks in good condition acceptable for resale.\u00a0 The library does not accept donations of textbooks, encyclopedias, Reader\u2019s Digest\u00a0books, or\u00a0books\u00a0with smoke, mold, mildew, or water damage.\u00a0Donations are accepted at the library during open hours. Please do not leave donated\u00a0books\u00a0outside the library or in the\u00a0book\u00a0return.
