The ESPN analyst made several notable adjustments after another weekend packed with statement wins and surprising results.

Among the biggest storylines, Texas took down rival Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry, Indiana went on the road and stunned Oregon in Eugene, and Alabama kept its momentum rolling with yet another ranked victory. Meanwhile, Texas Tech and Ole Miss both remained unbeaten, strengthening their cases as playoff contenders.

McElroy isn’t afraid to stand alone when it comes to his rankings — but this week, it’s hard to argue with his logic. Check out his full Top 25 below, reflecting where college football’s best programs stand after a dramatic Week 7.

Ohio State sits atop McElroy’s rankings following another dominant Big Ten win, this time taking care of Illinois on the road. The Buckeyes controlled the game from start to finish, leaving little doubt about their standing as the nation’s top team.

Ryan Day noted afterward that he still wants a stronger finish from his squad, but it’s hard to imagine much room for improvement. If this team continues clicking at this level, that should be a frightening thought for everyone else in college football.

© Troy Wayrynen-Imagn Images

Indiana shocked the country by going into Oregon and upsetting the Ducks in one of Week 7’s biggest surprises. Under Curt Cignetti, the Hoosiers now sit tied with Ohio State atop the Big Ten standings.

It’s hard to believe anyone could’ve written that sentence a year ago, but Cignetti’s turnaround has been that impressive. Indiana isn’t just a good story anymore — McElroy considers them one of the best teams in the entire nation.

Miami had the week off following a hard-fought win over Florida State, but McElroy didn’t let that impact their standing. The Hurricanes remain one of the top-ranked teams in his poll and a legitimate College Football Playoff threat.

Quarterback Carson Beck continues to anchor their success and has firmly entered the Heisman Trophy conversation. With balance on both sides of the ball, Miami looks every bit like the ACC’s team to beat.

Texas A&M put together another impressive SEC performance in Week 7, rolling past Florida 34-17. After being tied in the first quarter, the Aggies outscored the Gators 20-3 the rest of the way in a statement win.

Mike Elko’s team has established itself as one of the most complete squads in the conference. Midway through the season, McElroy sees the Aggies as a legitimate playoff contender with championship potential.

(Petre Thomas | Imagn Images)

Ole Miss survived a scare against Washington State, grinding out a 24-21 win after returning from their bye week. Despite the close call, the Rebels stayed unbeaten and high in McElroy’s rankings.

Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss delivered when it mattered most, throwing two touchdowns and running for another. Lane Kiffin’s team remains perfect in 2025 — and increasingly dangerous as the season wears on.

Texas Tech dominated Kansas 42-17 to improve to 6-0, solidifying its spot as the Big 12’s best team at the halfway mark. The Red Raiders are inside McElroy’s top 10 and might be the conference’s best hope for a playoff berth.

Running back Cameron Dickey stole the show, rushing for a staggering 263 yards despite Texas Tech rotating quarterbacks. If the offense continues clicking like this, the Red Raiders could be in for a special season.

Alabama extended its winning streak to five games with a gritty victory over Missouri, continuing to climb after its season-opening loss to Florida State. That defeat looks less impressive now, but the Crimson Tide have found their rhythm.

Quarterback Ty Simpson is in command of the offense, and the defense is improving each week. Head coach Kalen DeBoer has this team executing at an elite level once again.

Brett Davis | Imagn Images

Georgia avoided a potential upset at Auburn, escaping with a 20-10 road win to improve to 5-1. McElroy kept the Bulldogs inside his top 10 despite some uneven performances this season.

After a controversial fumble call near the goal line, Georgia seized control and dominated the second half 17-0. Now, the Bulldogs turn their attention to a massive top-10 clash against Ole Miss next week.

Oregon suffered its first loss of the season, falling 30-20 at home to Indiana in one of the weekend’s biggest stunners. Still, McElroy didn’t drop the Ducks out of his top 10.

Quarterback Dante Moore struggled, throwing two interceptions in arguably his toughest outing of the year. Even so, Oregon should be favored the rest of the way as it looks to rebound and return to the Big Ten Championship Game.

10. USC (NR)

USC climbs back into the top 10 of McElroy’s rankings after a commanding win over Michigan in Week 7. The Trojans were dominant from start to finish, overwhelming the Wolverines on both sides of the ball in one of their most complete performances of the season.

Quarterback Jayden Maiava was efficient, while the defense looked revitalized. With the win, USC has firmly reinserted itself into the College Football Playoff conversation — and McElroy believes Lincoln Riley’s squad is heating up.

11. Oklahoma (-6)
12. Tennessee (-1)
13. LSU
14. Georgia Tech (+2)
15. Virginia (+2)
16. BYU (+5)
17. Texas (NR)
18. Michigan (-4)
19. Notre Dame (+4)
20. Missouri (-8)
21. Vanderbilt (+3)
22. Nebraska (-3)
23. Cincinnati (-3)
24. Louisville (NR)
25. Washington (NR)

Greg McElroy has unveiled his updated Top 25 rankings following Week 7 of the college football season, and…

[67
399,12693,398,396,397,99
0":"post-226358","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-ncaa-football","8":"tag-football","9":"tag-greg-mcelroy","10":"tag-ncaa","11":"tag-ncaa-football","12":"tag-ncaafootball","13":"tag-sports
["GET
