But Warner is now officially on the road to recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Wednesday that Warner\u2019s surgery was a success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.49erswebzone.com\/articles\/195299-updates-george-kittle-returns-injuries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The surgery went good<\/a>,\u201d Shanahan said, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. \u201cJust talking to everyone, they said it went great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Shanahan had said Warner\u2019s recovery timeline could be three months \u2014 sparking thoughts of a Warner return for a potential postseason run \u2014 he walked that back a bit on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just threw out there three months, but we haven\u2019t thought about that yet,\u201d Shanahan said. \u201cI mean, he just had surgery yesterday, so we\u2019ll see how that goes, but not thinking about that right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Warner, a four-time AP first-team All-Pro, has not missed a game in years. He had recorded 51 total tackles with three passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery before suffering his injury in Sunday\u2019s loss to the Buccaneers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The 49ers lost linebacker Fred Warner to a season-ending ankle fracture.
