There’s a furry thief on the loose in West Hartford.<\/p>\n
West Hartford Animal Control said an injured bear has been taking pumpkins from homes in town.<\/p>\n
“Although we all want to assist the bear in recovering from its injury, unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done,” animal control said.<\/p>\n
The bear may appear to be struggling to move or care for itself, but animal control said that isn’t the case.<\/p>\n
Authorities said they observed the bear on Wednesday and saw it running despite its injured paw.<\/p>\n
“Bears are remarkably resilient and adaptable, capable of overcoming numerous challenges, including physical injuries. The bear has demonstrated a strong will to persevere,” animal control said.<\/p>\n
West Hartford Animal Control is working with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and they’ll provide updates as they’re made available.<\/p>\n
