Holger Rune is aiming to end his season with a flourish after a relatively underwhelming campaign for the talented player. <\/p>\n

Rune lost to Valentin Vacherot<\/a> at the Shanghai Masters<\/a> last week with the Monegasque going on and winning the title. <\/p>\n

Rune had been hitting some balls with Novak Djokovic<\/a> over in Asia and clearly he\u2019s leaving no stone unturned in a quest to find his best form. <\/p>\n

Danish performer Rune hasn\u2019t discounted himself from the ATP Finals<\/a>, but he does have some work to do if he\u2019s to make a late charge for a place. <\/p>\n

With the ATP schedule jam-packed in the modern era, there is one thing that Rune would love to see changed in the future by the powers that be. <\/p>\n

How the ATP is structured is constantly a hot topic at the moment, with Casper Ruud bemoaning something that they do earlier this week. <\/p>\n

Now, Rune has admitted that he simply loves being a tennis player but has admitted that the ATP do something that does feel slightly annoying to the players. <\/p>\n

He said in a press conference on Wednesday: \u201cIt\u2019s long, but we can still choose. If you play well, you can skip a few tournaments. The only thing I\u2019m less happy about is they make more mandatory ATP 500 events, I think that\u2019s a bit unnecessary. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf you don\u2019t want to play 250s you can now. It\u2019s long, but for me it\u2019s amazing, that\u2019s something I\u2019ve dreamt of my whole life, being on the tour and playing ATP events. I think many others have the same dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the stats prove, this season hasn\u2019t been the best for Rune and although he did beat Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> to win in Barcelona at a 500 event, he\u2019s not been good enough. <\/p>\n

Rune is 22-years-old and with Jannik Sinner<\/a> and Alcaraz at a similar age, he must be starting to get a sense that he needs to be doing better on the tour. <\/p>\n
