Saiyaara was not originally intended to be a standalone film\u2014it reportedly evolved from what was once planned to be \u2018Aashiqui 3\u2019. During a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Mohit recalled the early days of casting for \u2018Aashiqui 2\u2019. He explained that a nationwide talent hunt had initially been conducted to discover fresh faces. However, the plan did not unfold as expected.\u201cThen suddenly, one of my assistants called Aditya Roy Kapur. I think Aditya didn\u2019t even know who I was. He had no idea. I think Ranbir (Kapoor) told him, \u2018Go meet him, he\u2019s a good director.\u2019 Aditya showed up in shorts, chappals with socks, and a shirt. And while I was talking to him, he was spinning around in a revolving chair,\u201d Mohit recalled.Mohit\u2019s team was offended by Aditya\u2019s attitudeThe director admitted that his team had found Aditya\u2019s attitude unusual at the time and were offended by his behaviour. However, Mohit was impressed and could envision him in his frames.\u201cI was thinking\u2014this guy has come here on a bike. If this same guy had arrived in a Range Rover, he would be my character, Rahul Jaykar.
