A couple of hours have passed since we talked about how the iPhone Air launch in China was a massive hit<\/a>, with Apple\u2019s ultra-slim flagship selling out in online and offline stores across the region. Unfortunately, it appears that a smartphone\u2019s success in one country does not mean it is garnering the same reception in other areas. For this reason, a research firm has lowered its production forecast for the iPhone Air by 1 million units for the end of 2025.<\/p>\n

In contrast, all the other iPhone 17 models, including the base version, are selling exceptionally well<\/p>\n

Japan\u2019s Mizuho Securities, an investment banking and securities company, has published data that The Elec spotted on how poor iPhone Air sales have forced analysts to lower their production forecast for 2025. Apple\u2019s previous projected annual iPhone shipments of 246 million units for this year have been reduced by 7 percent to 229 million units for 2026. Coming to sales, Mizuho Securities says that every other iPhone 17 model is selling well except for the iPhone Air<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max<\/a>\u00a0are slightly higher in shipments compared to the same period last year, with the base iPhone 17<\/a>\u00a0performing tremendously well. The production forecasts for the non-Pro version have been raised by 2 million units, whereas the iPhone 17 Pro\u2019s and iPhone 17 Pro Max\u2019s production forecasts have increased by 1 million and 4 million units, respectively.<\/p>\n

As for the iPhone Air, its production forecast is lowered by 1 million units, with overall production raised from 88 million units to 94 million units for the year. One advantage that Apple currently has over its slim flagship is that the device commands immense popularity in China, which is the world\u2019s largest smartphone market.<\/p>\n

Where Samsung\u2019s struggles with the Galaxy S25 Edge forced it to cancel the Galaxy S26 Edge for next year<\/a>, Apple continues to push momentum with the iPhone Air. Whether the same popularity will be retained over the next several weeks is something that we cannot comment on, and assuming demand slowly dwindles, it is only a matter of Apple asking its suppliers to raise production for the remaining three models.<\/p>\n
