The Minnesota Vikings have found themselves at a bit of a crossroads so far this season. The Vikings want to develop young quarterback J.J. McCarthy into the team\u2019s long-term franchise quarterback, but the offense has looked better under veteran Carson Wentz, who has started in place of McCarthy since the young quarterback went down with a high ankle sprain.<\/p>\n
There was some belief that McCarthy would return to the starting lineup on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles; however, Minnesota appears to have something else in mind for McCarthy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith J.J. McCarthy still recovering from his high ankle sprain, the Vikings once again will start QB Carson Wentz, who spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with Philadelphia,\u201d reported ESPN\u2019s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Friday.<\/p>\n
Schefter then reported on what McCarthy\u2019s role will be on Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cVikings QB Max Brosmer will serve as the backup for Carson Wentz against the Eagles and J.J. McCarthy will be the emergency 3rd QB.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fans reacted to the reports on social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs soon as Wentz has a bad game all of a sudden JJ will be healthy,\u201d one fan wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n
\u201cMcCarthy is recovering from not being a good QB. Might be terminal,\u201d someone else added.<\/p>\n
\u201cShouldn\u2019t have let Darnold go, d\u201dD with Wentz,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n
