Elizabeth Berkley is looking back at her time with Diane Keaton<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The actress, 53, starred in the \u201cFirst Wives Club\u201d alongside the late Hollywood vet, who died at age 79 on Oct. 11.<\/a><\/p>\n

The star-studded cast also included\u00a0Goldie Hawn,\u00a0Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Maggie Smith. <\/p>\n

Elizabeth Berkley recalled working with the late Diane Keaton on \u201cFirst Wives Club.\u201d FilmMagic<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a profound time,\u201d Berkley told People<\/a> about working on the 1996 film alongside Keaton. \u201cTo be embraced by these three most extraordinary women at the top of their game, women I had looked up to.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The \u201cSaved by the Bell\u201d<\/a> alum revealed just how special it was to work with Keaton, Hawn, 79, and Midler, also 79.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey say never get too close to your heroes,\u201d Berkley continued. \u201cWell, each of those women in their own right not only lived up to what I hoped they would be, they went beyond with their warmth, their generosity, their embrace of me and encouragement at a time where I really needed it in the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Berkley said all of the women supported each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd on that film \u2013 those women did,\u201d Berkley gushed. \u201cSo for me as a 20-something to see that, I realized what it could be and that I never wanted anything less than that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cShowgirls\u201d actress called watching Keaton work on set a \u201cgift,\u201d and said she taught her \u201cwhat true leadership looks like.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThese women are extraordinary. They\u2019re all in their own right, a force of nature,\u201d Berkley detailed. \u201cAnd so, to get to collaborate with that kind of power, the generosity on set was really beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keaton\u2019s tragic passing was a shock to many, with the star sharing: \u201cI\u2019m very, very deeply sad about her passing. But what a legacy, not only as an artist but as a woman, a creative.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who knew her knew what a huge heart she had,\u201d noted Berkley. \u201cAnd just anyone was lucky to be in her orbit. Just a loving, loving, special woman.\u201d <\/p>\n

New details of Keaton\u2019s death emerged on Thursday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Primary bacterial pneumonia is listed as the Hollywood vet\u2019s immediate cause of death, according to a death certificate obtained by The Post. She had it for days before her passing.<\/p>\n

The document lists no other significant contributing conditions, but notes Keaton would be cremated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11,\u201d Keaton\u2019s relatives shared with the outlet on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her,\u201d they concluded.<\/p>\n

After Keaton\u2019s passing, a friend expressed that her health had\u00a0\u201cdeclined very suddenly\u201d\u00a0<\/a>in the final months of her life.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so unexpected,\u201d the pal told People<\/a>, \u201cespecially for someone with such strength and spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n

They noted that Keaton\u2019s health crisis \u201cwas heartbreaking for everyone who loved her.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cIn her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private,\u201d her friend explained. \u201cEven longtime friends weren\u2019t fully aware of what was happening.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keaton did not publicly disclose that she\u00a0was battling any illness.<\/a>\u00a0She previously beat two bouts of skin cancer and overcame an eating disorder.<\/p>\n

The \u201cFather of the Bride\u201d star\u2019s\u00a0last social media post<\/a>\u00a0was on\u00a0April 11, with Keaton posting a photo of her golden retriever, Reggie. She had not been seen publicly in six months.<\/p>\n

Keaton had two children, daughter Dexter, 29, and\u00a0son Duke, 25,<\/a>\u00a0whom she adopted after turning 50.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t think that I was ever going to be prepared to be a mother,\u201d she previously told\u00a0Ladies\u2019 Home Journal. \u201cMotherhood was not an urge I couldn\u2019t resist. It was more like a thought I\u2019d been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Patricia Arquette put it to The Post<\/a>: \u201cThey just are never going to have another person on earth like her.\u201d<\/p>\n
