Bill Maher<\/a>\u2019s Real Time<\/a> monologue this week hit a high note \u2014 and not just because he compared Donald Trump<\/a> to Taylor Swift<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During Friday night\u2019s episode of the HBO<\/a> show, Maher briefly praised Trump for his role in the Israel\u2013Hamas deal before launching into a blistering riff on the former president\u2019s retribution campaign and self-styled \u201cNo Kings\u201d protests.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, the Republicans are saying this is not no King\u2019s Day,\u201d Maher said. \u201cThey said this is hate America day. Yeah, liberals hate America? That\u2019s what they think? Yeah, if you won\u2019t stop assembling freely and speaking freely, we\u2019re gonna send our masked, unaccountable secret police to arrest you, as America should be!\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian then mocked Trump\u2019s insistence that he doesn\u2019t see himself as a monarch. \u201cHe said, I am not a king, and the next person who calls me one, they\u2019re going to find their ass in the dungeon, let me tell you!\u201d Maher joked. \u201cI have no intention of becoming a king, but if some country wants to donate a gold crown, I\u2019m not gonna say no.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher compared Trump\u2019s mounting list of political enemies to Nixon<\/a>\u2019s infamous \u201cenemies list.\u201d \u201cYou know, enemies list, I remember when Nixon, you know, they accused Nixon of having an enemies list and he denied it. Trump reads it out loud!\u201d Maher said. \u201cI\u2019m not kidding, he just reads it out loud \u2014 that\u2019s a little bit of a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then came the kicker: \u201cTrump is going after everyone that ever pissed him off,\u201d Maher said. \u201cHe\u2019s like an authoritarian Taylor Swift. It\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later in the episode, Maher welcomed actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger<\/a>, who didn\u2019t hold back when discussing Governor Gavin Newsom<\/a>\u2019s Prop 50 measure \u2014 calling it \u201ca big scam.\u201d<\/p>\n

The proposal, which would temporarily change California\u2019s congressional district maps, has been billed by Newsom as a way to prevent Trump and Republicans from \u201crigging the next election.\u201d Schwarzenegger, however, called it proof that gerrymandering remains alive and well.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you know who I want to win? The people,\u201d he said. \u201cThe people have to win. See, I\u2019m a Republican, but I\u2019m not a Republican hack. I\u2019m not a political hack. I don\u2019t serve the party, I always serve the people. The people are first.\u201d<\/p>\n

He warned voters against giving \u201cpower back to the politicians\u201d via Prop 50, adding, \u201cWe fought that for too long. Let\u2019s not do that. Let\u2019s be a good example. Let the Democrats outperform the Republicans, and therefore, because of their performance, win and get the House back.\u201d<\/p>\n
