Next up for MSU is a home game against rival Michigan next Saturday. Time will be announced Sunday. IU hosts UCLA next week.

4Q, :33: Through the pouring rain in Bloomington, Michigan State managed to score its first points since the first quarter as it kicked a field goal to make it 38-13.

4Q, 1:56: Indiana has officially covered the spread for this game with a field goal. The Hoosiers now lead 38-10.

4Q, 8:59: Aidan Chiles continues to play exceptionally despite the score. The quarterback broke free from the pocket and took it 64 yards upfield. It didn’t ultimately matter, though, as Chiles was later sacked for a loss of 9 yards to turn it over on downs.

4Q, 11:21: Indiana had another strong drive, and even reached the endzone. But the throw from QB Fernando Mendoza to WR EJ Williams JR put Williams just out of bounds by the heel of his foot. That was fourth down, so the Spartans take over on downs deep in their own territory

3Q, 2:03: Michigan State was forced to punt again as an incomplete pass and multiple ineffective rushes stopped the Spartans from making a dent in Indiana’s lead. Punter Ryan Eckley sent it 50 yards and Indiana returned it 16 yards to IND49.

3Q, 3:55: This is starting to get ugly for Michigan State. The Spartans have not managed to stop the Hoosiers or even limit them to just a field goal yet. Indiana has gone 5-for-5 — this one to WR Elijah Serratt for his second of the day. It’s now 35-10, Indiana.

3Q, 7:56: QB Aidan Chiles is doing his best to drag Michigan State into this game, but the Spartans are struggling. Chiles managed to drag the Spartans to the IND32 but the field goal attempt from 50 went just wide right. Score remains 28-10, Indiana.

3Q, 13:09: It didn’t take Indiana long coming out of the extended halftime to score again. QB Fernando Mendoza hit WR Omari Cooper Jr. on a 48-yard play to extend Indiana’s lead to 18. Michigan State now trails by 18 points as Indiana leads, 28-10.

Michigan State and Indiana have begun the second half. Indiana received the opening half kickoff.

Michigan State and Indiana are set to re-take the field at 5:32 p.m. for a warmup. The game will begin shortly after.

Halftime has been extended indefinitely due to inclement weather in Bloomington. It is currently unknown when the game will resume.

2Q, 0:59: QB Fernando Mendoza’s patient work downfield seemed to be in danger after the quarterback had to handle a low snap on 2nd and 10. However, Mendoza grabbed the ball and ran it eight yards up the middle. On 3rd and 2, though, his pass was incomplete to WR Elijah Sarratt. It didn’t matter, though, as WR Omar Cooper Jr. caught the 4th down play for 7 yards. And right after that, RB Kaelon Black drove up the center for a 29-yard gain for the touchdown. The Spartans’ defense was unable to stop them in any way. Indiana extends the lead, 21-10.

2Q, 2:00: Defensive tackle Ben Johnson was down, seemingly with an injury to his right leg. He was helped off the field during the two-minute timeout, visibly hobbling and leaning on two trainers for support.

2Q, 2:46: Michigan State got nowhere on its last drive with only one play gaining significant yardage — a 23-yard pass to WR Omari Kelly. QB Aidan Chiles, who also punts, sent the ball 40 yards for a touchback.

2Q, 6:47: It took the Hoosiers just five plays to regain the lead. A 39-yard play from TE Riley Nowakowski advanced Indiana most of the way up the field. On the next play, QB Fernando Mendoza completed a 24-yard pass to WR Elijah Sarratt for the touchdown. Indiana leads, 14-10.

2Q, 9:22: Michigan State’s drive was progressing well, but hit its first rough patch when RB Elijah Tau-Tolliver’s rush lost three yards, setting up 2nd and 13. WR Nick Marsh advanced it ten yards for 3rd and 3. Deep in Indiana’s territory, faced with third down, the run from RB Makhi Frazier only gained a yard. They went for fourth down and QB Aidan Chiles successfully reached for the first down. A few plays later, WR Nick Marsh caught the slant route pass from Chiles for the touchdown. MSU leads, 10-7.

1Q, 2:40: After the Spartans scored a field goal on their first drive of the game which spanned six minutes, Indiana’s offense put together a lengthy drive of its own, working methodically downfield for seven minutes. QB Fernando Mendoza passed it 13 yards to WR EJ Williams Jr, who extended over the goal line for the touchdown. After review, the touchdown stands. Indiana leads, 7-3.

An impressive first drive by the Hoosiers with Fernando Mendoza looking sharp yet again.

The Heisman candidate threw this TD pass to E.J. Williams to put #iufb on the board and take a 7-3 after the touchdown was upheld by review.pic.twitter.com/bm2ONiez5M

— Colin McMahon (@ColinMcMahon31) October 18, 2025

1Q, 8:07: Michigan State had its longest drive of the season spanning six minutes and 53 seconds, eventually resulting in a field goal. It was a strong opening drive for the Spartans, who likely need to put points on the board at every possible opportunity with Indiana’s potent offense on the other side.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, there was a hazardous weather outlook for Saturday. The statement read, “Thunderstorms are possible this afternoon focused mainly across the northwest half of central Indiana, with additional thunderstorms over the entire area late tonight. A few storms may produce strong wind gusts this afternoon, then again overnight as a narrow line of storms tracks quickly east. Locally heavy rainfall is possible. Cloud to ground lightning is a threat with any thunderstorm.”

– Indianapolis Star

The Hoosiers finally have Byron Baldwin Jr. available as no players, aside from Bryson Bonds and Lee Beebe Jr. who are out for the season, are listed on the injury report.

The Spartans, meanwhile, have a lengthy list of injuries.
