Sabrina Carpenter<\/a> leaned into her provocative image while pulling double duty as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live.<\/p>\n

During her opening monologue on Saturday (Oct. 18), the 26-year-old pop star addressed the buzz around the cover<\/a> of her latest album, Man\u2019s Best Friend, which shows her on all fours with an unseen person tugging her hair.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast time I was here, for the 50th anniversary, I got to sing with Paul Simon, and since then my new album Man\u2019s Best Friend came out,\u201d Carpenter told the audience. \u201cSome people got a little freaked out by the cover. I\u2019m not sure why. It\u2019s just this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cManchild\u201d singer then pulled up an image of the controversial cover on the screen, revealing a few added images to give it full context.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut what people don\u2019t realize it\u2019s just how they cropped it,\u201d she joked.\u201d If you zoom out, it\u2019s clearly a picture of me at the 50th anniversary special of Bowen [Yang] helping me up by the hair. After Martin Short shoved me out of the buffet line, saying something like, \u2018Daddy need his mini-quiche.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carpenter went on to \u201cclear up some misconceptions\u201d about her public image.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone thinks of me as this, like, horndog pop star, but there\u2019s really so much more to me,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m not just horny. I\u2019m also turned on and I\u2019m sexually charged. And I love to read. My favorite book is the encyclopedia. It\u2019s so big and it\u2019s hard\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

She then turned to the audience, attempting to show \u201cthere is a real person underneath all the sparkles and the wigs and the corsets.\u201d Staying on-brand, she followed with a tradition from her concerts<\/a>, vowing to arrest someone \u201chot\u201d from the audience.<\/p>\n

Before she could, SNL veteran Kenan Thompson rushed the stage as faux police lights flashed, placing Carpenter under arrest with a pair of fuzzy pink handcuffs.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor being hot?\u201d Carpenter asked. \u201cNo,\u201d Thompson replied. \u201cFor falsely impersonating an officer 200 times at your concerts. You\u2019re arresting innocent hot people.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then joked he was really there to get a cameo video for his niece, until Carpenter, without missing a beat, demanded $200,000 for it.<\/p>\n

In addition to the monologue and a string of sketches, Carpenter also performed her songs \u201cManchild\u201d and \u201cNobody\u2019s Son\u201d during the episode.<\/p>\n
