Notre Dame football climbed in the latest Associated Press college football rankings released Sunday for a fifth consecutive week. The Week 9 AP Top 25 Poll slated the Fighting Irish (5-2) in the No. 12 spot following Saturday\u2019s 34-24 victory<\/a> over then-No. 20 USC.<\/p>\n

The Irish moved up one spot in the AP Poll. They also moved up two spots to No. 13 in the latest USA Today Sports coaches poll<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Notre Dame, which was ranked No. 6 in the preseason AP Poll, dropped all the way down to No. 24 in the Week 4 poll following an 0-2 start with losses to Miami and Texas A&M. The Irish have moved up in every poll since then \u2014 two spots for Week 5, one spot for Week 6, five spots for Week 7, three spots for Week 8 and one spot for Week 9.<\/p>\n

USC (5-2) dropped out of the top 25 following its loss to Notre Dame and received the 26th-most votes. Miami (5-1) dropped seven spots to No. 9 following Friday\u2019s 24-21 loss to Louisville. Texas A&M (7-0) moved up one spot to No. 3 following a 45-42 victory at Arkansas on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Blue & Gold\u2018s Eric Hansen<\/a> ranked Notre Dame at No. 8 in his Week 8 Poll. Three AP voters have Notre Dame ranked the highest at No. 7. No one has the Irish ranked lower than No. 16.<\/p>\n

On3 college football insider Brett McMurphy dropped Notre Dame down one spot to No. 13 on his AP ballot<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Notre Dame might not climb in next Sunday\u2019s poll, because the Irish have a bye week on the schedule next weekend. The Irish will play their next game at Boston College (1-6) on Saturday, Nov. 1.<\/p>\n

No remaining opponent on Notre Dame\u2019s schedule is currently ranked in the AP Poll. Navy (6-0), who Notre Dame will host on Nov. 8, is the lone remaining opponent who received votes in this week\u2019s poll. Twenty-nine teams received more votes than Navy following its bye week. <\/p>\n
