Legendary actor Gene Hackman\u2019s personal collection, complete with annotated pieces of \u201ccinematic memorabilia\u201d and even three of his Golden Globe awards, will be auctioned off after he left nothing to his three children in his will.<\/p>\n
Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 65, were found dead in their New Mexico<\/a> home in February. Their bodies were both in similar states of decomposition and had likely been dead for weeks before a longtime contractor and friend of the late actor found them<\/a>. <\/p>\n Some of Gene Hackman\u2019s belongings are up for auction from November to December. Hackman, who was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer\u2019s<\/a> and incapable of caring for himself, died a week after his wife, likely with no knowledge<\/a> that she had passed.<\/p>\n Hackman\u2019s will listed Arakawa as the sole beneficiary, leaving nothing to his three children. Hackman was not only a collector but an artist himself, and his approach to collecting mirrors the care, aesthetic sensibility, and discipline evident in his own artistic practice. Courtesy Bonhams \/ SWNS<\/p>\n The second wave, which shifts to an online-only auction from Nov. 8 to Nov. 21, includes more works of art and three of his four coveted Golden Globe awards \u2014 one for Wes Anderson\u2019s \u201cThe Royal Tenenbaums\u201d and another for Clint Eastwood\u2019s \u201cUnforgiven,\u201d according to the listing<\/a>.<\/p>\n Hackman\u2019s third Golden Globe \u2014 the Cecil B. De Mille Lifetime Achievement award \u2014 will also be available, but isn\u2019t included online yet. His first-ever Golden Globe, which he won for \u201cThe French Connection,\u201d which also earned him his first Oscar, will not be sold.<\/p>\n Hackman passed away at the age of 95 in February.
