{"id":238913,"date":"2025-10-20T15:59:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T15:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/238913\/"},"modified":"2025-10-20T15:59:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T15:59:09","slug":"channel-4s-nevine-mabro-becomes-bbcs-storyville-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/238913\/","title":{"rendered":"Channel 4&#8217;s Nevine Mabro Becomes BBC&#8217;s Storyville Chief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bbc\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bbc\" data-tag=\"bbc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BBC<\/a>\u2018s international docs strand <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/storyville\/\" id=\"auto-tag_storyville\" data-tag=\"storyville\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Storyville<\/a> has a new leader.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/channel-4\/\" id=\"auto-tag_channel-4\" data-tag=\"channel-4\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Channel 4<\/a>\u2018s Nevine Mabro has been hired as Head of Storyville and will begin her new role in January 2026, reporting Fiona Campbell, the BBC\u2019s Controller of Youth Audiences and Interim Director of Unscripted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe role was created earlier this year when the BBC <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/06\/bbc-storyville-seeking-new-head-after-role-closures-and-less-films-1236444226\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shuttered a trio of other positions at the strand<\/a>, namely lead commissioner, commissioning editor and commissioning co-ordinator. That restructure saw lead commissioner Emma Hindley move to a specialist factual commissioning role. As part of the changes, the number of films from the strand will drop 20%, but the budget remains the same.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMabro will join the BBC with 25 years of experience in world news and docs under her belt. At Channel 4, she was a commissioning editor specializing in international docs and current affairs. Besides commissioning BAFTA, Peabody and Grierson-winning programs, she headed up the long-running Unreported World strand and worked on building digital reach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFurther back, Mabro had several senior editorial roles at Channel 4 News and in that time produced the Oscar-nominated doc <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/for-sama\/\" id=\"auto-tag_for-sama\" data-tag=\"for-sama\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">For Sama<\/a>, which Waad al-Kateab and Edward Watts directed. She has also executive produced three International Emmy-wininng programs about Syria and has covered U.S. elections for Channel 4 News and Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cNevine has a wealth of experience delivering award-winning, high impact films and I\u2019m delighted that she has accepted this role,\u201d said Campbell. \u201cShe is hugely respected within the industry as a champion of bold and original storytelling and I\u2019m looking forward to her lead BBC Storyville into the future.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMabro added: \u201cIt\u2019s a\u00a0huge privilege to be joining BBC Storyville with its rich history of showcasing the best international documentaries from around the world.
