Emma Raducanu was impressed by what she had seen from this WTA player when playing her at the US Open.<\/p>\n

Raducanu is a former US Open champion<\/a>, and has played against some of the best WTA<\/a> players in recent history including Serena Williams<\/a>, Aryna Sabalenka<\/a> and Iga Swiatek<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Briton had struggled in the years after winning her maiden Grand Slam title, but Raducanu has impressed in 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This includes reaching the third round of the US Open<\/a>, where Raducanu<\/a> beat a WTA player who she said was \u2018very dangerous\u2019.<\/p>\n

Janice Tjen has enjoyed a breakout season in 2025, with the Indonesian having graduated from US College last year.<\/p>\n

This was particularly highlighted at the US Open this year, where Tjen came through qualifying to become the first Indonesian in 22 years to win a Grand Slam main draw match after beating 24th seed Veronika Kudermetova.<\/p>\n

After beating Kudermetova, Tjen would set up a second round meeting with Raducanu, where she was beaten 6-2 6-1.<\/p>\n

Despite the one-sided nature of her defeat, Tjen received praise from Raducanu in her post-match press conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I\u2019m particularly happy, because on the court, I felt like my opponent was playing really good tennis,\u201d Raducanu said about Tjen. \u201cI thought that she was very dangerous and any ball that I put midcourt was going to be punished.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tjen did not appear to dwell on this defeat, and showed how dangerous she could be at the WTA 250 tournament in Sao Paolo, where she would reach her first ever tour final.<\/p>\n

One month later, Tjen would play the WTA 125 tournament in Jinan, China, where she would go all the way to win the biggest title of her career so far.<\/p>\n

Showing the relentless nature of the tennis tour, just one day later Tjen was playing in qualifying for the WTA 250 event in Guangzhou.<\/p>\n

Despite fighting back to give herself two match points in the deciding set, Tjen would be beaten by world number 176 Tatiana Prozorova, 6(4)-7 6-4 7-6(4).<\/p>\n

Janice Tjen still rewarded with a career-high ranking <\/p>\n

Although Tjen\u2019s winning streak is now over, she has still been rewarded for her commitment to playing matches at the latter stages of the season.<\/p>\n

Tjen had already broken into the top 100, and she has now furthered that even more after improving her career-high to world number 80.<\/p>\n

This is a remarkable achievement when you consider that Tjen ended the 2024 season as the world number 578.<\/p>\n

Tjen is now in a great position to directly enter the Australian Open<\/a> next year, particularly as she only has 65 more ranking points to defend this year.<\/p>\n

Despite losing in qualifying for the singles draw in Guangzhou, Tjen remains in the doubles draw alongside Katarzyna Piter.<\/p>\n

Tjen\u2019s next singles tournament is at the returning WTA 250 event in Chennai, India, where she will be the sixth seed.<\/p>\n
