\n Everything\u2019s been smooth sailing for the Ohio State football team through the first seven weeks of the season, but Ryan Day knows the Buckeyes can\u2019t take their foot off the gas now. <\/p>\n
\n\tDuring his appearance on the Ohio State Sports Network\u2019s Buckeye Roundtable<\/a> show on Monday night, Ryan Day was asked about a weekend full of upsets in college football<\/a> that included losses for four top-10 teams (No. 2 Miami, No. 5 Ole Miss, No. 7 Texas Tech and\u00a0 No. 10 LSU). Day said that served\u00a0as a good reminder to his team that the Buckeyes\u00a0can’t afford to have a letdown even though they\u2019re 7-0 for the season, knowing that even one loss could knock\u00a0them out of\u00a0the Big Ten Championship Game.\n<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe’re all in the hotel (before the Wisconsin game) and we’re watching those Friday night games and it just gets everybody’s attention,\u201d Day said. \u201cIt’s good to\u00a0make sure that we understand that we got to bring it on a week-to-week basis and we know every week an opportunity to get to\u00a0Indianapolis is\u00a0on the line.\n<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cOur guys, they’re not professionals. They’re still 18- to 22-year-olds, and\u00a0they have to learn the ability to bring it every week.\u00a0And if we stay consistent with our preparation, it gives us a chance to do that.\u00a0And we know it’s a long season. So every week we got to recharge and bring it on Saturdays.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n\tDuring his seven-minute interview on Monday night, Day also talked about the team\u2019s schedule for the bye week and the success Julian Sayin, Carnell Tate and Ohio State\u2019s defense had vs. Wisconsin.\n<\/p>\n \t\tDay said just about every player on the team was watching the Friday night games the night before the Wisconsin game.\u00a0\u201cDoing bed check and going around,\u00a0just about every room was watching those games and into it.\u00a0I think our guys love the game, love football.\u201d<\/p>\n \t\tDay said the majority of Ohio State\u2019s coaches were on the road recruiting Monday and will be again Friday. The team will practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, then the players will get Friday and Saturday off before getting back to work Sunday.<\/p>\n \t\tDay said Julian Sayin has a \u201cnatural instinct\u201d to be able to see the field and feel the pass rush.\u00a0\u201cI\u2019d like to tell you that that\u2019s coaching, but it\u2019s not. It\u2019s just an innate feel, it\u2019s a natural instinct that he has.\u201d He said Sayin \u201cmade a couple plays off-schedule that I thought were tremendous,\u201d and thinks Sayin is improving every week because of his footwork and his reads downfield.<\/p>\n
