{"id":240541,"date":"2025-10-21T08:02:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T08:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/240541\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T08:02:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T08:02:07","slug":"one-dead-after-rare-tornado-topples-construction-cranes-near-paris-tornadoes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/240541\/","title":{"rendered":"One dead after rare tornado topples construction cranes near Paris | Tornadoes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">A tornado tore through districts north of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/paris\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paris<\/a> on Monday, toppling three construction cranes that killed one person and left four others with critical injuries, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The town of Ermont, about 20km (13 miles) north-east of Paris was worst hit by the sudden twister that caused damage across about 10 districts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Regional prosecutor Guirec Le Bras said a 23-year-old construction worker was killed on a building site and 10 people had been injured with four in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The tornado toppled cranes and tore off building roofs, authorities said. Interior minister Laurent Nunez said on the X platform that it had been a storm of \u201csudden and rare intensity\u201d. He added: \u201cI am following the situation closely and express my support to officials, the rescuers on site, and the affected residents. I extend my condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased victim.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Videos shared on social media showed three cranes falling within seconds of each other.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">One crane fell on a clinic, without causing injuries, and another on a residential building.
