Kenny Loggins<\/a> has hit out at President Donald Trump<\/a> after his song \u201cDanger Zone\u201d was used in the president\u2019s bizarre AI-created video showing himself wearing a crown, flying a \u201cKING TRUMP\u201d fighter jet, and bombing a crowd of No Kings protesters with brown liquid.<\/a><\/p>\n

Loggins, 77, famously recorded the song, which was written by Giorgio Moroder, for the soundtrack of the 1986 Tom Cruise movie Top Gun.<\/a><\/p>\n

The singer has called for Trump\u2019s video to be taken down on copyright grounds.<\/p>\n

In a statement to Variety<\/a>, Loggins said: \u201cThis is an unauthorized use of my performance of \u2018Danger Zone.\u2019 Nobody asked me for my permission, which I would have denied, and I request that my recording on this video is removed immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t imagine why anybody would want their music used or associated with something created with the sole purpose of dividing us. Too many people are trying to tear us apart, and we need to find new ways to come together.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re all Americans, and we\u2019re all patriotic. There is no \u2018us and them\u2019 \u2014 that\u2019s not who we are, nor is it what we should be. It\u2019s all of us. We\u2019re in this together, and it is my hope that we can embrace music as a way of celebrating and uniting each and every one of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Variety approached the White House for a response to the statement from Loggins, a representative reportedly responded with a Top Gun meme that reads: \u201cI feel the need for speed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Independent has reached out to Loggins and the White House for comment.<\/p>\n

This weekend\u2019s \u201cNo Kings\u201d protests received support from a number of celebrities<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Chicago, John Cusack said the city\u2019s message to the Trump administration is: \u201cGo to hell!\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The 59-year-old High Fidelity and Say Anything star is a longtime resident of the city.<\/p>\n

In an interview with CNN<\/a> at the rally, Cusack claimed that Trump misunderstands Chicago. The president has asked the Supreme Court for permission to send troops into the city, arguing they are needed to protect federal border and immigration officials. Officials in the city insist they are not needed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s interesting is that he doesn\u2019t understand that all the labor rights around the world came from this town, this place,\u201d said Cusack \u201cSo if he thinks this place is going to be a fascist hub \u2013 no chance!\u201d<\/p>\n

Addressing the president directly, Cusack continued: \u201cNo, you can\u2019t put troops on our streets. You can\u2019t create enough chaos to invoke the Insurrection Act so you can stay in power. We all know what your plan is.\u201d<\/p>\n
