{"id":242012,"date":"2025-10-21T22:08:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T22:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/242012\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T22:08:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T22:08:14","slug":"tower-watch-atlantas-tallest-skyscraper-in-decades-to-top-out-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/242012\/","title":{"rendered":"Tower Watch: Atlanta\u2019s tallest skyscraper in decades to top out soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you\u2019re in your early thirties today, you were probably in diapers the last time a building climbed this high in Atlanta.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But after two and \u00bd years of site work and construction\u2014and borderline <a href=\"https:\/\/atlanta.urbanize.city\/tags\/1072-west-peachtree-street\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">development wonk obsession<\/a> on these pages\u2014the tallest new tower built in Atlanta since the early 1990s is nearing the end of its 60-story climb over Midtown.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rockefeller Group reps send word today their 1072 West Peachtree project is scheduled to hoist its final beam and officially top out (save decorative flourishes planned for the building\u2019s crown) the morning of Nov. 7.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The topping-out ceremony will be hosted by Rockefeller, the property\u2019s ownership group, and Turner Construction, the general contractor who\u2019s been building the glassy high-rise since its official groundbreaking in July 2023. (Two media viewing options for the beam-raising ceremony are being offered, from the ground and the top floor, and we\u2019ve filed for a slot on the latter.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"image-and-caption\">\n<a class=\"fancybox\" href=\"https:\/\/atlanta.urbanize.city\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/1140w\/public\/2025-10\/1072%20West%20Peachtree%20early%20October%202025%201.png?itok=lRDVj07x\" rel=\"article-image-set nofollow noopener\" title=\"Josh Green\/Urbanize Atlanta \" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"image-950w article-inline-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1072 West Peachtree early October 2025 1.png\" width=\"950\"\/><\/a><br \/>\nThe glassy Rockefeller Group tower&#8217;s prominent place on the Atlanta skyline, as seen over the Connector expressway in early October.Josh Green\/Urbanize Atlanta <\/p>\n<p>The relatively slim, mixed-use skyrise has ascended rapidly since <a href=\"https:\/\/atlanta.urbanize.city\/post\/1072-west-peachtree-atl-tallest-building-3-decades-skyline-crane-watch-images\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">the spring<\/a> and now <a href=\"https:\/\/atlanta.urbanize.city\/post\/1072-west-peachtree-rockefeller-tower-photos-stands-out-all-over-atl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">clearly stands out<\/a> at points from English Avenue to Blandtown, Virginia-Highland to Centennial Olympic Park, and many places between.\u00a0The project climbed nearly three dozen stories since late March, en route to its top level with glass panels and fins, per renderings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rockefeller reps have told Urbanize Atlanta the 1072 West Peachtree project remains on pace to start delivering before Atlanta\u2019s 2026 FIFA World Cup matches kick off in June.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1072 West Peachtree will ultimately stand 749 feet, making it Atlanta\u2019s fifth tallest high-rise, supplanting Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel for the No. 5 spot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It will be both the tallest residential and mixed-use building in Atlanta.\u00a0No taller skyrise has been built in the city since 1992.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"image-and-caption\">\n<a class=\"fancybox\" href=\"https:\/\/atlanta.urbanize.city\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/1140w\/public\/2025-04\/1072%20W.%20Peachtree%20looking%20SE.png?itok=QE2AsA5i\" rel=\"article-image-set nofollow noopener\" title=\"Courtesy of Rockefeller Group\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"image-950w article-inline-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1072 W. Courtesy of Rockefeller Group<\/p>\n<p>The Rockefeller tower\u2014as designed by Atlanta-based architecture firm TVS, in collaboration with Brock Hudgins Architects\u2014will count more than 350 upscale apartments total, Rockefeller officials have said.\u00a0Some of those units will have the highest residential views ever built in Atlanta.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Below the apartments, 224,000 square feet of Class A office space will occupy floors 11 to 18. Spanning a full acre, the tower\u2019s 10th-floor amenity deck will include collaborative and lounge seating areas and a lawn for games, events, and other gatherings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rockefeller\u2019s plans for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/atlanta.urbanize.city\/post\/1072-west-peachtree-developer-tallest-Midtown-project-decades-rising\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">street-level retail<\/a>\u00a0component include multiple options for dining throughout the day.
