Valentin Vacherot is gearing up for his return to the match court in his first tournament since the Shanghai Masters.<\/p>\n

Vacherot won the Shanghai Masters<\/a> in stunning fashion, coming through qualifying to become the lowest ranked ATP<\/a> 1000 champion in history.<\/p>\n

As a result of his breakthrough run that saw him beat cousin Arthur Rinderknech<\/a> in the final, Vacherot shot up the ATP rankings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, this was too late for him to get into upcoming tournaments, but Vacherot was handed a wildcard for the Swiss Indoors in Basel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Vacherot<\/a> received a wildcard for the prestigious ATP 500 tournament in Basel, where Roger Federer<\/a> is a record 10-time champion.<\/p>\n

There are now bigger expectations on Vacherot, who is currently at his career-high ranking of world number 39, and will have a lot more eyes on him at the Swiss Indoors.<\/p>\n

When speaking to L\u2019Equipe<\/a>, Vacherot was asked about what his goal is for the coming week, to which he suggested that he wanted to carry on as he left off in Shanghai.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe goal? To repeat what I did tennis-wise and physically in Shanghai,\u201d said Vacherot. \u201cI\u2019m very happy with how I feel, even a week later. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe comeback wasn\u2019t too hard physically, but obviously, there\u2019s a lot more attention around me. Just sitting here, I wouldn\u2019t have been if I hadn\u2019t won the tournament in Shanghai. But I\u2019m very happy to be here and to be back in a tournament very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

When speaking about the aftermath of his victory in Shanghai, Vacherot suggested that he has been overwhelmed by the reaction he has received.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow was last week? Crazy! I didn\u2019t have much time to myself, to breathe,\u201d answered Vacherot. \u201cBut it doesn\u2019t matter. I took it all in stride. I shared this moment with everyone in Monaco. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very happy to come here so I can also get back into my little bubble, to see how we feel, how we are during a tournament and to be able to work quietly and prepare for the next tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n

Valentin Vacherot\u2019s potential run to the title at the Swiss Indoors<\/p>\n

Vacherot will need to be in a similar vein of form that he was in Shanghai, as he has been handed a very challenging draw in Basel.<\/p>\n

In his first match since winning the Shanghai Masters<\/a>, Vacherot will play top seed Taylor Fritz<\/a> in a first-time meeting.<\/p>\n

Some of the other potential threats in his half of the draw include Stockholm champion Casper Ruud<\/a>, Jiri Lehecka<\/a> and Ugo Humbert<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While it is unclear as to whether Vacherot will be able to continue his winning streak, we do know that he will not play another final against his cousin Rinderknech, who has withdrawn from the Swiss Indoors in Basel.<\/p>\n
