When they stopped to help, they couldn\u2019t believe what it was.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">In Reddit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/cats\/comments\/1ockqgp\/i_found_a_cat_on_the_side_of_the_road\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">post shared<\/a> on Tuesday by u\/inlovewithmolly, the poster said that while driving back home from their girlfriend\u2019s house, they had to swerve their car to avoid hitting something that was lying there on the side of the road.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The poster wrote: \u00a0&#8220;I almost ran over her, but I swerved, and I went back to see what it was because I thought it could be a raccoon or possum, anywho I just wanted to make whatever was on the road safe, but then it was this kitten. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">&#8220;I can\u2019t take in this kitten forever but I&#8217;m caring for it right now, I took it a flea bath so far and have been bottle feeding her and vet said she\u2019s good to eat wet food.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">&#8220;But long story short I&#8217;m really stressed out about her cause I want to send her to a shelter but for some reason I kind of don\u2019t, so any type of advice would really help me.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Loading reddit content&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The outdoors is no place for a feline, especially one this small and frail. While outdoor time can offer stimulation and exercise, unsupervised access poses serious risks that significantly reduce their life span. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Indoor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/cats\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cats<\/a> live for 15 to 17 years on average, while outdoor felines live only for 2 to 5 years due to dangers such as extreme temperatures, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/poached-animals-ifaw-10839483\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">wildlife,<\/a> and disease. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Exposure to cold or heat can lead to hypothermia or heatstroke. Wildlife and other cats can injure or infect them with parasites, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/bird-flu-h5n1-cats-pets-warning-kansas-2028710\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">viruses<\/a>, or bacteria. Cars are a major threat, often leading to injury or death. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Toxic substances such as pesticides and rodenticides that can be found outdoors\u00a0also pose some serious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/half-million-us-cats-serious-effects-drugs-1885981\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">health risks<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">If you want to give your feline the chance to experience the outdoors, then consider supervised time using a leash, or harness, or get them an enclosed play area like catio to keep them safe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"10920600\" alt=\"\" caption=\"A stock image shows a tabby kitten climbing on top of a car.\" captionoverride=\"Stock image: A tabby kitten climbs on top of a car.\" credit=\"Getty Images\" sourcealt=\"\" sources=\"[]\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"3872\" height=\"2592\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent;aspect-ratio:inherit;object-fit:cover\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2201192826.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The post immediately went <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/viral\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">viral<\/a> on the platform, receiving over\u00a028,000 upvotes and over 340 comments, and users are all hoping they keep her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">One user, WaterDmge, commented: &#8220;Oh boy sounds like you already know \u2026 Named her yet? Possum would be cute considering the circumstances if you haven\u2019t!&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Master_Button_2593 wrote: &#8220;You don\u2019t want to send her to a shelter because you are her savior\u2014she probably would have died if you hadn\u2019t intervened. If at all possible keep her\u2014she\u2019s adorable and you\u2019re the chosen one! (Not guilt tripping by the way).&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Formerflautist57 said: &#8220;If you can&#8217;t keep her, make the decision soon. Realistically, she&#8217;ll have a better chance of being adopted as a young kitten. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">&#8220;She&#8217;s very pretty and unique looking so I doubt finding a home will be hard.
