{"id":244972,"date":"2025-10-23T02:19:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T02:19:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/244972\/"},"modified":"2025-10-23T02:19:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T02:19:14","slug":"singapore-offers-cheapest-10-gigabit-fibre-in-the-world-tarifica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/244972\/","title":{"rendered":"Singapore offers cheapest 10-gigabit fibre in the world: Tarifica"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The city-state offers the internet speed at $22 per month, compared to $195 in the US.<\/p>\n<p>Ten gigabit fibre <a href=\"https:\/\/sbr.com.sg\/telecom-internet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener dofollow\">internet<\/a> is more affordable in Singapore, whilst in the United States it costs four to seven times more per gigabit, research showed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSingaporean consumers can purchase 10 gigabit service for as little as $22 per month, while comparable U.S. offerings can cost up to $195 per month,\u201d Tarifica said in its Data Dive report. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn practical terms, many American households pay several times more for a fraction of the speed,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>Singapore\u2019s providers SIMBA, M1, StarHub, and <a href=\"https:\/\/sbr.com.sg\/company\/singtel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener dofollow\">Singtel<\/a> offer 10 gigabit plans between $22 and $65 per month, whilst prices from U.S. providers range from $100 to $195 for similar or slower tiers, which is \u201cfour to seven times more per gigabit\u201d compared to the Singaporean market.<\/p>\n<p>Tarifica credited the lower rates to Singapore\u2019s wholesale open-access government policy that requires every internet service provider to lease capacity from the same fibre network on identical terms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has produced a highly competitive retail market where providers differentiate on price, service quality, and customer experience,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>In the United States, operators own both the infrastructure and the retail relationship in most local markets, according to Tarifica.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause many households have only one or two fixed-line options, competition is limited.
