Her boyfriend of two years, however, is upset that she won’t split it with him<\/p>\n

One woman is opening up about a recent conflict with her boyfriend after receiving an inheritance from her late grandfather.<\/p>\n

In a post on Reddit\u2019s Am I the A—— forum<\/a>, the woman explained that her grandfather \u2014 whom she was very close to \u2014 recently passed away and left her about $30,000. Even before receiving the money, she said she had planned to use it responsibly, paying off her debt and putting the rest into savings.<\/p>\n

While sharing the news with her boyfriend of two years, things took an unexpected turn. The couple, who do not live together, had very different ideas about how to use the money.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen he found out about the inheritance, his first reaction was, \u2018That\u2019s awesome, we can finally go on that Europe trip!\u2019 \u201d she wrote. \u201cI told him we\u2019re not spending it, and he looked at me like I\u2019d committed treason.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added that he\u2019s since accused her of being selfish, saying things like, \u201cI thought we were a team,\u201d and, \u201cMoney shouldn\u2019t be secret between partners.\u201d When she reminded him that they\u2019re not even engaged, he replied, \u201cWow, so it\u2019s your money, not ours?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes,\u201d she told him. \u201cThat\u2019s literally how inheritance works.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, the woman says her boyfriend has been cold and distant, accusing her of \u201cshowing her true colors.\u201d She turned to Reddit for advice, asking: \u201cAm I the a—— for refusing to share something that was meant for me?\u201d<\/p>\n

Since posting, hundreds of users have chimed in \u2014 and most are firmly on her side. Many commenters said it was actually the boyfriend who revealed his true colors.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongrats for standing up for yourself! He\u2019s hoping his pouting will change your mind,\u201d one person wrote.<\/p>\n

Another added, \u201cI\u2019m glad he showed you his real self. It gets worse \u2014 and at least now you know. It\u2019s yours 1000%, there\u2019s nothing for him. People like that are quick to take credit for your achievements too. Put that money away and don\u2019t mess with it for a while. You\u2019ll get to see his brand new personality.\u201d<\/p>\n
