\n\tUPDATED WITH BBC<\/a> STATEMENT: Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> presenters Tess Daly<\/a> and Claudia Winkleman<\/a> are exiting at the end of this season.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement posted on Daly\u2019s Instagram, the pair said \u201cwe were always going to leave together and now feels like the right time.\u201d An Insta video from the duo said \u201cthere have been some rumblings\u201d about their departure and \u201cwe want you to hear this from us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe have loved working as a duo and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream,\u201d added Daly and Winkleman, who have hosted the hit BBC series for more than a decade. \u201cWe will have the greatest rest of this amazing series and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show. They\u2019re the most brilliant team and we\u2019ll miss them every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThey added: \u201cWe will cry when we say the last \u201ckeep dancing\u201d but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe shock news comes at a time of change for Strictly, which has had to grapple with a number of scandals over the past couple of years.<\/p>\n

\n\tDaly and Winkleman\u2019s final ep will be this year\u2019s Christmas episode. <\/p>\n

\n\tAround an hour after Daly and Winkleman\u2019s statement, the BBC published their own statement thanking them for \u201cpassion and dedication [that] has gone above and beyond.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI can\u2019t quite believe I\u2019m saying this, but it\u2019s the end of an era with Tess and Claudia\u2019s decision to bid farewell to the Strictly ballroom,\u201d said BBC Chief Content Officer Kate Phillips. \u201cThey\u2019ve both been such incredible hosts at the very heart of the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDaly and Winkleman have been hosting Strictly since Bruce Forsyth stepped down in 2013, at which point Winkleman, who had already been helming the results show, took over.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe pair are a fixture on Saturday and Sunday night BBC TV on what is the UK\u2019s biggest entertainment show, regularly drawing audiences of millions of viewers per week. Both presenters are recognizable faces on UK TV screens and Winkleman\u2019s stock has risen of late as she has gained iconic status for presenting The Traitors and the current Celebrity Traitors, also for the BBC.<\/p>\n

\n\tLast year, Strictly was hit with scandal as two professional dancers exited following allegations of misconduct. This season, the BBC launched an investigation<\/a> into allegations of drug use on the show.<\/p>\n

\n\tThoughts will of course turn to who could replace Winkleman and Daly on the show that remains incredibly popular and a huge part of the BBC\u2019s schedule in the run-up to Christmas. The Strictly companion show It Takes Two, which airs during the week, is presented by dancer Janette Manrara and former X Factor contestant Fleur East, both of whom would likely be in the running. Another former It Takes Two host, Rylan Clark, is also already being discussed as a potential replacement.<\/p>\n

\n\tProduced by BBC Studios<\/a>, Strictly has aired on the BBC from September to Christmas since 2004.
