Kim Kardashian revealed she always felt the pressure to protect and help Kanye West during his controversial public outbursts until one of their four children witnessed his antics.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always felt like I had a little bit of Stockholm syndrome, to where I always felt really bad and always protected [him] and always wanted to help [him],\u201d she explained on Thursday\u2019s Season 7 premiere of \u201cThe Kardashians.\u201d Kim Kardashian \/ Instagram<\/p>\n
According to the Cleveland Clinic<\/a>, Stockholm syndrome is defined as a trauma bond in which a victim can feel sympathetic toward their abusers, or \u201cdevelop positive feelings toward their captors or abusers over time.\u201d<\/p>\n While Kardashian, 45, didn\u2019t elaborate on the situation that changed her perspective, she added, \u201cThis was the first time I didn\u2019t feel that responsibility personally.\u201d<\/p>\n The Skims founder also called out critics who believe she has \u201cthe luxury of walking away\u201d from West, 48, and \u201cnever dealing [with him] ever again,\u201d saying, \u201cThat\u2019s not my reality.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis person, we have four kids together<\/a>,\u201d she said, referring to North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.<\/p>\n The SKIMS founder explained her need to protect West faded after one of their kids witnessed his antics. Hulu<\/p>\n \u201cThis was the first time I didn\u2019t feel that responsibility personally,\u201d Kardashian said. Kim Kardashian\/Instagram<\/p>\n Elsewhere, Kardashian explained that she experiences psoriasis flares<\/a> \u2014 a skin disease that causes rashes \u2014 when she feels \u201cmore stressed\u201d to \u201cprotect what [she has] to protect.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy kids are involved now,\u201d she said, admitting she doesn\u2019t have a coping mechanism and solely focuses on trying to shield them from West\u2019s outbursts.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re going to know things,\u201d the \u201cKeeping Up With the Kardashians\u201d alum continued. \u201cThey\u2019re going to grow up. They\u2019re going to see. So my job as a mom is to just make sure that at a time when that behavior is happening, is to make sure they\u2019re protected.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n The businesswoman didn\u2019t elaborate on the situation that changed her perspective. We\u2019re in the same spot, we have the same address, so he knows where his kids are<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
