There are few rivalries with as much animosity as the one between the Michigan Wolverines<\/a> and Michigan State Spartans<\/a>. Now, head of their meeting this weekend, one notable Michigan alum wanted to make it clear what he thought was going to happen.<\/p>\n

Taylor Lewan<\/a> of Bussin\u2019 With The Boys appeared on Get Up on Thursday morning. There, he declared that the Wolverines are going to dominate the Spartans, regardless of who\u2019s at home for the game. <\/p>\n

\u201cListen, Michigan is going to walk into East Lansing and they\u2019re going to dominate this week,\u201d Lewan said. \u201cThey\u2019re going to be up by 21 points, they\u2019re gonna score again, and they\u2019re gonna go for two. I\u2019ve already texted the correct people that I need to make sure that gets done.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lewan was an offensive lineman at Michigan from 2009 to 2013. That would have been for the end of the Rich Rodriguez<\/a> era and into the Brady Hoke<\/a> era, eventually becoming a first round pick. Admittedly, in his own day, the Wolverines didn\u2019t exactly dominate the rivalry, but that doesn\u2019t mean he isn\u2019t confident in them now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did go 1-3 vs. Michigan State,\u201d Lewan admitted. \u201cMy senior year, we rushed for -48 rushing yards. So, haters, already beat you to the punch. Eminimed myself. I will say, different football team. Different cultures. East Lansing might no longer be a part of the country after this game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Michigan and Michigan State are looking for a win, but their respective seasons are going in very different directions at the same time. In Michigan\u2019s case, the Wolverines are 5-2 and looking to make a late-season push for the College Football Playoff<\/a>. For the Spartans, it\u2019s about turning around what has been a very frustrating season.<\/p>\n

Michigan State now sits at 3-4 and has opened Big Ten play 0-4 on the back of four straight losses. Still, head coach Jonathan Smith<\/a> believes a win over the Wolverines could turn the Spartans\u2019 season around, or at the very least be the biggest individual win they get all year.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, make our season,\u201d Smith\u00a0said<\/a>. \u201cI know it can change our season. One, no question, just winning a game, but this game, what it means in the state. No question. That\u2019s why it\u2019s the most meaningful game of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Certainly, the animosity is through the roof between these two teams. In recent years alone, there was the fight in the tunnel during the 2022 season that would lead to criminal charges for multiple Michigan State players. <\/p>\n

Michigan has now won three straight games against rival Michigan State. That has moved their all-time record in the series to 74-38-5.
