The Neighbourhood (nbhd) are honoring the \u201cSweater Weather\u201d<\/a> season by dropping new music.<\/p>\n

The indie rock band announced<\/a> their new album,”(((((ultraSOUND)))))” on Friday, Oct. 24. The project, which is due Nov. 14, will be the nbhd\u2018s first album in five years. The group\u2019s last full-length project, \u201cChip Chrome & the Mono-Tones,\u201d was released in 2020. <\/p>\n

A press release describes the album as a \u201cpowerful return to the band\u2019s roots\u201d that blends \u201cthe raw energy of \u201990s alt-rock with a modern, introspective edge,\u201d UPROXX reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The project also draws inspiration from Brit-pop while the nbhd\u2019s “signature California indie sound.\u201d <\/p>\n

Lyrically, the new album is said to be \u201cintimate and self-aware, exploring heartbreak, disillusionment, and emotional vulnerability,\u201d according to UPROXX. <\/p>\n

The nbhd put out three new singles as part of the album\u2019s reveal: “OMG,\u201c \u201dLovebomb” and \u201cPrivate.\u201d Fans can listen<\/a> to the new tracks on all streaming services as well as pre-save or pre-order \u201c(((((ultraSOUND))))).\u201d<\/p>\n

Formed in Newbury Park, California in 2011, the nbhd consists of lead singer Jesse Rutherford, guitarists Jeremy Freedman and Zach Abels, bassist Mikey Margott and drummer Brandon Fried. <\/p>\n

After releasing two EPs, the band signed with Columbia Records and released their debut album, \u201cI Love You\u201d in 2013. The project\u2019s success was boosted by its third single, \u201cSweater Weather\u201d which peaked<\/a> at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and led to Diamond certification<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The band\u2019s other notable hits include \u201cAfraid,\u201d \u201cDaddy Issues,\u201d \u201cSoftcore,\u201d \u201cYou Get Me So High,\u201d \u201cReflections\u201d and \u201cThe Beach.\u201d Their two other albums are 2015\u2019s \u201cWiped Out!,\u201d 2018\u2019s \u201cThe Neighbourhood.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new album will come after Rutherford released his self-titled solo album last year. The singer explained his reasoning for making the project and how it related to the nbhd in an interview with Apple Music\u2019s Zane Lowe<\/a> in September 2024. <\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted a moment to not have The Neighbourhood be my identity because, and it is, it\u2019s a big part of it and I love that. But I didn\u2019t stop doing the band just because I wanted to focus on me making a solo record. I just knew that was also going to happen,\u201d Rutherford said. <\/p>\n
