Trivium have hired on yet another drummer, Alex R\u00fcdinger. Word of R\u00fcdinger getting behind the kit follows the one-show performance Trivium had with Sepultura\u2018s Greyson Nekrutman on drums earlier this month. Nekrutman was brought in to fill-in for Alex Bent, whom Trivium parted ways with<\/a> several weeks ago.<\/p>\n

While Trivium indicated in this statement<\/a> that Nekrutman would be handling the percussion for them on their impending fall tour with Jinjer and Heriot, that has proven not to be the case. In a new statement issued today, October 24th, Trivium revealed their change of plans, while also confirming R\u00fcdinger will be involved in their next studio album.<\/p>\n

\u201cHi everyone:<\/p>\n

As we prepare to hit the road next week for our North American tour we wanted to explain where we are with our drummer.<\/p>\n

We want to sincerely thank Greyson Nekrutman for stepping in and crushing it with us at Aftershock Festival. It was an honor to share the stage with such a powerhouse talent, and we\u2019re grateful to both Greyson and Sepultura for making it possible.<\/p>\n

As we look ahead to our North American tour with Jinjer and Heriot and into a new album cycle, the realities of scheduling made it clear that Greyson wouldn\u2019t be able to continue with us for the tour. There\u2019s nothing but respect between us \u2014 Greyson is a humble, confident, and passionate musician, and we\u2019ll always be fans.<\/p>\n

That said, we\u2019re excited to share that we\u2019ve reconnected with a drummer we\u2019ve known for over a decade \u2014 Alex Rudinger (formerly of Whitechapel). Fun fact: we asked Alex to join Trivium nine years ago, but the timing didn\u2019t align.<\/p>\n

Alex Rudinger will join us on tour starting next week and will be part of our writing sessions for the next Trivium record. We\u2019re thrilled to finally share the stage with him and explore what\u2019s ahead.<\/p>\n

R\u00fcdinger has been a member of numerous bands over the years, including Whitechapel, The Faceless, Conquering Dystopia and many more. Counting Nekrutman, he is the seventh drummer to take up arms with Trivium, ensuring they still have a ways to go yet before surpassing Spinal Tap.<\/p>\n
