Data from SellCell indicates that the Apple iPhone Air is managing to go toe-to-toe with the iPhone Pro Max in the US<\/p>\n
We recently compared the trade-in prices of the Apple iPhone Air and its Pro Max counterpart on the used phone market, SellCell.<\/p>\n
To ensure an apple-to-apple (pun intended) comparison, we applied the following search conditions:<\/p>\n

As is evident from the above snippet, the iPhone Air is currently commanding a resale value of $671 on SellCell. In contrast, you can sell an Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max on the platform right now for $827. Bear in mind that the iPhone Air has a starting price of $999 vs. $1,199 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max (256GB variant).<\/p>\n
This equates to a depreciation of 32.8 percent for the Apple iPhone Air and 31 percent for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. There is, effectively, just a ~2 percent difference between the resale prices of these two variants, despite the iPhone Air receiving tons of negative publicity in recent days.<\/p>\n
This is a surprising outcome, especially as recent reports have managed to paint a fairly grim picture for the Apple iPhone Air’s demand profile<\/a>. As we noted recently, the KeyBanc Capital Market survey released earlier this week found “virtually no demand for the iPhone Air<\/a>, and limited willingness to pay for a foldable.”<\/p>\n Also, the famous Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, recently claimed that the Cupertino giant is already asking suppliers to cut the production of components for the iPhone Air by as much as\u00a080 percent<\/a>. It would certainly be interesting if the iPhone Air continues to exhibit resale price resilience.
