Following Saturday\u2019s game between Ole Miss<\/a> and Oklahoma<\/a>, Lane Kiffin<\/a> trolled one of the Sooners\u2019 top defensive players. He said David Stone<\/a> was chirping him throughout the matchup before the Rebels got the victory.<\/p>\n

Kiffin said Stone led him hear it during the game about Oklahoma\u2019s defense standing strong against the Ole Miss offense. However, it was the Rebels who put up more than 400 yards on the day and improved to 7-1 with the 34-26 victory.<\/p>\n

So, as Kiffin walked up to his postgame interview with ABC\u2019s Molly McGrath, he and Stone connected. That\u2019s when the Ole Miss coach, as he does, trolled the Oklahoma standout.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re a little quieter now than before,\u201d Kiffin said with a smirk<\/a>. \u201c\u2026 This guy yelled at me during the game, like, five times how great they were and we can\u2019t score on them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ole Miss got a huge day from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss<\/a>, who led the charge in the 34-26 win. He threw for 315 yards and a touchdown while adding 53 rushing yards, as well. Running back Kewan Lacy<\/a> had two touchdowns on the day along with a team-high 78 rushing yards.<\/p>\n

It was quite the performance against an Oklahoma defense that entered Saturday as one of the best in the SEC. The Sooners led the league with 213 yards allowed and 9.4 points allowed on average. Kiffin acknowledged the respect the Rebels had for Brent Venables\u2019<\/a> unit, but said the message at halftime was about making sure OU didn\u2019t get back in the game like Georgia did last time out.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a great defense,\u201d Kiffin said. \u201cThere\u2019s one of the best players in the country right there [R Mason Thomas<\/a>]. Just really pleased how our guys finished off. We talked about it at halftime. We had Georgia down two scores and we let that one slip away, so we didn\u2019t want to do it again.<\/p>\n

\u201cGot a little hectic there, but I\u2019m actually glad we won it on defense after all the poor play last week and dealing with that all week. \u2026 Good our defense won it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The victory was especially important for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss in the big picture. The Rebels improved to 7-1 on the year and remain squarely in the mix in the SEC. Additionally, their College Football Playoff hopes are very much alive.
