{"id":251833,"date":"2025-10-26T02:39:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-26T02:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/251833\/"},"modified":"2025-10-26T02:39:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T02:39:07","slug":"dapper-man-sparks-intrigue-after-appearing-at-louvre-jewel-heist-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/251833\/","title":{"rendered":"Dapper man sparks intrigue after appearing at Louvre jewel heist investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now that\u2019s arresting style.<\/p>\n<p>A man who stepped into a photo taken outside the Louvre in Paris amid the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/25\/world-news\/louvre-heist-being-investigated-as-inside-job-with-security-guard-eyed-in-landmark-robbery-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">investigation into the recent\u00a0brazen crown jewels heist\u00a0<\/a>at the famous museum has gone viral.<\/p>\n<p>The mystery man, who was dressed in a three-piece suit with a dark-colored jacket and a gold vest topped with a fedora and an umbrella used as a walking stick, had social media buzzing, comparing him to Inspector Clouseau from the \u201cPink Panther\u201d and Agatha Christie\u2019s Hercule Poirot.<\/p>\n<p>Many seemed to believe that the dashing man was the\u00a0chief inspector\u00a0on the case, while some even speculated his dapper appearance hinted at an elegant criminal who was <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/23\/world-news\/see-louvre-robbers-slow-getaway-with-100m-in-jewels\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">involved in the heist<\/a> somehow.<\/p>\n<p>One X user wrote of the photo: \u201cActual shot (not AI!) of a French detective working the case of the French Crown Jewels that were stolen from the Louvre\u201d and another claimed the man, \u201cwho looks like he came out of a detective film noir from the 1940s is an actual French police detective who\u2019s investigating the theft.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A third wrote: \u201cThe detective working the Louvre Jewel heist is the guy in the fedora. AP Photo\/Thibault Camus<\/p>\n<p>But the Associated Press photographer who snapped the curious shot last Sunday claimed that he had no reason to believe the man had anything to do with the Louvre investigation, but rather he was just someone who stepped into the frame.<\/p>\n<p>Follow The Post\u2019s coverage on The Louvre Heist<\/p>\n<p>The photographer, Thibault Camus, told his outlet he believed the man added a bit of Parisian\u00a0je ne sais quoi \u2014\u00a0\u201cI don\u2019t know what\u201d\u00a0\u2014\u00a0to his photos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe appeared in front of me, I saw him, I took the photo,\u201d Camus says. \u201cHe passed by and left.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Investigators inside of the Louvre after the heist earlier in the day on Oct. 19, 2025. AP Photo\/Thomas Padilla<\/p>\n<p>Parisian authorities\u00a0also decided to add a little French intrigue to the mystery when asked by AP if they could identify the man.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019d rather keep the mystery alive ;)\u201d the\u00a0Paris prosecutor\u2019s office\u00a0answered.<\/p>\n<p>Last Sunday morning,<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/23\/world-news\/louvre-director-acknowledges-failure-after-jewel-heist-offered-to-resign\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> four masked criminals stole several priceless pieces<\/a> from the Louvre\u2019s crown jewels collection after breaking into a gallery soon after the museum opened.<\/p>\n<p>The thieves fled on scooters and have yet to be caught.<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press contributed to this report.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Now that\u2019s arresting style.
