{"id":251887,"date":"2025-10-26T03:19:06","date_gmt":"2025-10-26T03:19:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/251887\/"},"modified":"2025-10-26T03:19:06","modified_gmt":"2025-10-26T03:19:06","slug":"sources-titans-unwilling-to-trade-cam-ward-jeffery-simmons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/251887\/","title":{"rendered":"Sources: Titans unwilling to trade Cam Ward, Jeffery Simmons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"0a0aea59-9a5e-01b3-57a3-0151cf4bf393\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/ten\/tennessee-titans\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tennessee Titans<\/a> are open to dealing ahead of the NFL trade deadline, but sources told ESPN on Saturday that they are unwilling to part with their most important players &#8212; rookie quarterback <a data-player-guid=\"9f4e87b5-5da8-38c0-9951-e3496b55b3c8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4688380\/cam-ward\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cam Ward<\/a> and star defensive lineman <a data-player-guid=\"3d2c970c-ba26-bcf9-3e98-bd833dd57be6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4035369\/jeffery-simmons\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jeffery Simmons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Teams have been monitoring the last-place Titans (1-6), who fired head coach Brian Callahan earlier this month and named Mike McCoy as his interim replacement.<\/p>\n<p>The Titans are willing to listen to trade offers on players such as tight end <a data-player-guid=\"eb564484-2114-ece2-1581-1bf179af62c8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4360635\/chig-okonkwo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chig Okonkwo<\/a>, cornerback <a data-player-guid=\"94aa18de-e04a-ae52-6e23-3f72ffce1141\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4371973\/roger-mccreary\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roger McCreary<\/a> and outside linebacker <a data-player-guid=\"c490106e-71e7-b501-b677-a61a41b96400\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/3843843\/arden-key\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arden Key<\/a>, sources told ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s Picks<\/p>\n<p>2 Related<\/p>\n<p>But Ward, the No. 1 pick in this year&#8217;s draft, and Simmons, a three-time Pro Bowler, are off limits, according to sources.<\/p>\n<p>Simmons, 28, is one of the few players remaining from the Titans teams that won back-to-back AFC South titles in 2020 and 2021. He has two years remaining on the four-year, $94 million extension he signed in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson recently referred to Simmons, who will not play Sunday against the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"582d14eb-da61-e505-cc40-d972a1b60ed1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/ind\/indianapolis-colts\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Colts<\/a> because of a hamstring injury, as &#8220;our best player.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can&#8217;t replace Jeff Simmons,&#8221; Wilson said. &#8220;He&#8217;s played as a best three technique as anyone in the National Football League this year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Chad Brinker, who is in his first season as the Titans&#8217; president of team operations, has publicly stated that he wants Tennessee to have at least 12 picks in the top 100 over the next three drafts.<\/p>\n<p>But with the Nov. 4 trade deadline looming, McCoy said earlier this week that Tennessee&#8217;s focus remains on the Colts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re not worrying about down the road,&#8221; McCoy said. &#8220;It&#8217;s about this week. That&#8217;s the No. 1 thing.
