\u201cGirls<\/a>\u201d always seems to surge back into the cultural conversation, particularly since Lena Dunham<\/a>\u2019s new series \u201cToo Much\u201d premiered on Netflix<\/a> earlier this month. In the near-decade since \u201cGirls\u201d aired its HBO finale, its cast has gone on to become film and TV<\/a> stalwarts. Among the most prolific, of course, is Andrew Rannells<\/a> \u2014 who appeared with Dunham on \u201cToo Much<\/a>,\u201d giving fans the Hannah and Elijah reunion they were waiting for.<\/p>\n

\u201cToo Much\u201d might\u2019ve been the latest project pairing Dunham and Rannells, but it was far from the first. Actually, according to none other than Judd Apatow \u2014 \u201cGirls\u201d executive producer (among other things) \u2014 we now know exactly what the first scene they shot together was\u2026 and it\u2019s a biggie.<\/p>\n

In the scene \u2014 from way back in 2012 \u2014 Hannah and Elijah, her former college boyfriend, have a contentious (and hilarious) conversation about Elijah\u2019s sexuality, focusing on how much more queer-coded he has gotten since coming out and how he believes her father is also gay. The \u201cGirls Rewatch\u201d podcast<\/a> posted the scene<\/a>, and it has since gone viral \u2014\u00a0so viral, in fact, that both Rannells and Apatow commented, with the latter revealing a nice nugget of trivia.<\/p>\n

\u201cAndrew\u2019s first day at work,\u201d Apatow wrote. \u201cRemarkable. Both of them so in the pocket it\u2019s ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rannells meanwhile said simply, \u201cYou all are the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cToo Much\u201d had brought Dunham renewed success. Rannells is but one of many fun guest stars and cameos<\/a> littered throughout the series. At Tribeca in June, Dunham told the audience (via THR<\/a>) that she \u201calways try to write with somebody in mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just helps me when I\u2019m writing, and usually it\u2019s somebody either that I admire or somebody that I already have a really great collaborative relationship with, and then you just kind of write them,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd my goal is always: I love this person, so what is going to get them to come do a role, a couple episodes in a half-hour TV show like this?\u201d<\/p>\n

Dunham also has the Netflix romcom \u201cGood Sex\u201d<\/a> on the horizon, boasting a cast that includes Natalie Portman, Meg Ryan, Mark Ruffalo, and Rashida Jones. <\/p>\n

Rannells, meanwhile, recently appeared in the horror comedy \u201cI Don\u2019t Understand You,\u201d<\/a> now available to stream<\/a>.<\/p>\n
