Colorado\u2019s Estes Park is famous for elk sightings, especially during the fall rut when the animals are active and vocal.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, many tourists have no idea that approaching elk is dangerous and can involve (and have involved) painful consequences. (Park guidelines state that people must remain at least 75 feet from elk.)<\/p>\n
Their reckless behavior often goes unchecked, but this week a prominent photographer was compelled to speak out while watching two tourists approach within feet of elk with cellphone cameras in their outstretched arms.<\/p>\n
