With that being said, the SSA had launched a new AI-powered phone bot to help reduce long wait times and improve the efficiency of services for millions of Americans.<\/p>\n

When Social Security<\/a> beneficiaries call the SSA\u2019s helpline, they\u2019re greeted by a friendly virtual voice that says, \u201cHow can I help you today?\u201d. So now, instead of waiting on the telephone line for a human assistant, the bot tries to understand what you are asking and will direct you to assistance.<\/p>\n

This \u201cdigital-first\u201d strategy appears to be a significant advancement on paper as it uses artificial intelligence to answer basic enquiries, free up human personnel, and provide assistance more quickly. However, the experience has not been easy for a lot of callers.<\/p>\n

The AI Bot Was Meant to Be a Game-Changer<\/p>\n

It can be noted that the SSA receives approximately 400,000 calls every day and many of these calls are about checking benefits or updating personal information.<\/p>\n
