It seems that many players on both the ATP and WTA Tours are struggling in the latter stages of the season.<\/p>\n

That was certainly the case for former world number three Elina Svitolina, who ended her season early<\/a> due to feeling burnt out.<\/p>\n

Svitolina is one of many players who has cut her season short, joining the likes of Jack Draper<\/a>, Paula Badosa<\/a> and Barbora Krejcikova, who have been struggling with injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now another ATP<\/a> player has confessed that he could take an extended break from the sport after admitting he has been struggling recently.<\/p>\n

It has been a mixed season for former world number five Andrey Rublev, who won the Qatar Open<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n

However, after reaching the fourth round of the US Open<\/a>, Rublev<\/a> has been unable to win another match since then.<\/p>\n

As a result, this has confirmed that something has happened to Rublev for the first time in six years<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After losing his fifth match in a row, Rublev spoke to Russian media outlet Tennis Bolshoi about how he was feeling.<\/p>\n

In an honest reflection, Rublev admitted he felt burnt out, but did explain that his feeling is exclusively related to tennis and he was feeling better off the court.<\/p>\n

\u201cI need a break, a real one,\u201d said Rublev. \u201cI\u2019m too worn out, too exhausted, too\u2026burnt out, so I definitely need a break. But thank God, off the court I\u2019m feeling really good, better and better. So it\u2019s just a matter of time before it shows on the court as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

When prompted about when this feeling started, Rublev suggested that it was around the time that this losing streak began, \u201cProbably at the start of the China swing, I fully noticed it after the first tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rublev was then asked about how he plans to stop feeling this way, to which he revealed he could take an extended break from tennis.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just need a pause. But we decided to at least finish the season somehow and then just take a pause, however long it takes, whether it\u2019s weeks, a month or more,\u201d responded Rublev. <\/p>\n

\u201cJust take a pause, stop thinking, and take a rest from tennis. Because I\u2019ve dedicated my whole life to tennis, and I\u2019ve never had the chance to live outside of it. So I need to take that pause now to live a life outside of tennis.\u201d<\/p>\n

How many ranking points is Andrey Rublev defending for the rest of the 2025 season?<\/p>\n

After losing in the first round of the Vienna Open<\/a> to Cameron Norrie<\/a>, Rublev has dropped back down to world number 17.<\/p>\n

This is the first year that Rublev has been outside the top 10 since 2022, but he is unlikely to return there until at least next year.<\/p>\n

Rublev is defending 60 more ranking points this year and has only one more tournament on his schedule at the Paris Masters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As he looks to end his five-match losing streak before the end of the 2025 season, Rublev will play another British player in Jacob Fearnley<\/a> in a first-time meeting.<\/p>\n
