Apparently there’s been some confusion surrounding recent quotes from Final Fantasy 7 Remake<\/a> director Naoki Hamaguchi, and he’s now attempting to clear things up.<\/p>\n

Previously, Hamaguchi had claimed that the final, third game in the saga will be “a bit more concise”<\/a> than Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth<\/a> \u2014 a title that’s sometimes criticised for having too much padding between key story beats.<\/p>\n

But the director is very keen to let fans know that “concise” does not equate to cutting content.<\/p>\n

In an interview with VGC<\/a>, he explains: “I think [my previous comments] may have been misconstrued by people; they may have said, \u2018OK, that means they\u2019re going to cut down on the volume and they\u2019re going to remove story content, it\u2019s going to be a shorter game, they\u2019re going to cut it down\u2019, and that\u2019s not what I\u2019m saying at all.”<\/p>\n

He continues: “It\u2019s about making sure the pacing feels right, it\u2019s not about cutting out content, it\u2019s making sure that it feels right, the speed that the story progresses at feels right, and it is fairly quick and feels like you can get through it at a reasonable pace. But it has to feel right, so that\u2019s what I mainly intended to say there.”<\/p>\n

As we’ve mentioned before, Part 3 \u2014 which doesn’t have an official name yet \u2014 has a lot of story to get through. Final Fantasy 7’s<\/a> plot really starts to ramp up beyond the events that were covered in Rebirth, and so we do think there’s pressure on the dev team to get the pacing right.<\/p>\n

But when are we actually going to see Part 3? When’s the big reveal? Hamaguchi doesn’t give a straight answer, as you’d expect, but he does tease that news will be coming in the “not too distant” future.<\/p>\n
