Lane Kiffin<\/a> has done an incredible job building up Ole Miss<\/a>. However, if LSU<\/a> beckons him after firing Brian Kelly<\/a>, Paul Finebaum thinks the Rebels head coach should listen.<\/p>\n

The Tigers are one of the two coveted SEC coaching jobs vacant, with\u00a0Florida<\/a> being the other. Many have pinpointed\u00a0Kiffin as the top choice for both programs, but the SEC Network analyst believes LSU would be tough for him to turn down.<\/p>\n

\u201cKiffin, in my mind, always just seemed restless at Ole Miss,\u201d Finebaum stated, via McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning<\/a>. \u201cAs much as he has tried to convince everybody that this is his nirvana, I just don\u2019t believe it. Yeah, he likes it there. His family likes it there. And that was all about not going to Auburn.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is different. This is one of those jobs that he has to \u2014 I mean, I\u2019ve always thought he coveted Florida, but there\u2019s something about LSU that\u2019s even more attractive than Florida. And I just have a hard time believing that Lane Kiffin is not intrigued by it. I frankly believe he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even if he\u2019s intrigued by the idea, Cam Newton<\/a>\u00a0doesn\u2019t believe Kiffin should make the move. Despite LSU and Florida being premier destinations, the former\u00a0Auburn<\/a>\u00a0star went against Finebaum, thinking Kiffin should stay at Ole Miss and build the Rebels into a national contender, blazing his own trail in the process.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the hottest person right now is Lane Kiffin, but I would be questionable to take that job if I\u2019m Lane Kiffin, because you will be chasing somebody else\u2019s greatness at any of the schools that are vacant,\u201d Newton explained via\u00a0First Take. \u201cYou\u2019ll already be compared to\u00a0Urban Meyer<\/a> if you\u2019re at the University of Florida.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you go to LSU, you have the likes of\u00a0Ed Orgeron<\/a>\u00a0and, you know,\u00a0Nick Saban<\/a>\u00a0and those guys and\u00a0Les Miles<\/a>. If you stay at Ole Miss \u2014 if I\u2019m Lane Kiffin, I say, \u2018Give me what I\u2019m owed, and I can build something great that has never been here before.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cEven with the likes of\u00a0Eli Manning<\/a>\u00a0and the greatness of so many other players in Ole Miss history, you are able to create your own legacy. Something that hasn\u2019t been done before. That\u2019s why Indiana paid their coach, because they understand. There will be coaching vacancies, and the coaching carousel will move.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut if I\u2019m Lane Kiffin, and him being such a polarizing person, just with what he did this past weekend with shunning the player, I love that in a coach. I love the bravado that he brings. But I think he\u2019s in the right space right there at Ole Miss, because he can create his own narrative, and now he doesn\u2019t feel the pressure of everybody else.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the end, it remains to be seen what Kiffin ultimately decides. He\u2019ll certainly have no shortage of choices when the time comes, and whether he remains at Ole Miss or heads to LSU or Ole Miss, his star will continue to shine bright.
