Texas quarterback Arch Manning<\/a> left the Longhorns\u2019 recent win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs after taking a hard hit in overtime that saw his head slam against the turf. On Saturday night, Inside Texas had the latest intel on Manning\u2019s condition.<\/a> On Monday, Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian<\/a> provided an update on his starting quarterback.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did not (practice),\u201d Sarkisian said Monday. \u201cHe\u2019s in (concussion) protocol right now. We\u2019ll have more information as the week goes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to leaving, Manning was 29-for-46 for 346 yards with three touchdowns, one interception, and a rushing touchdown. This season, he\u2019s 143-for-235 for 1795 yards with 15 touchdowns, six interceptions, and six rushing touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Manning was replaced by Matthew Caldwell<\/a>, who was 1-for-1 for 10 yards and the game-winning touchdown pass in overtime to Emmett Mosley V. This year in backup duty, Caldwell is 8-for-11 for 85 yards and one score. He played in Texas\u2019 three Group of Six games and made single passes at Florida and at Mississippi State.<\/p>\n

In his career for FBS teams (Troy, Texas), Caldwell is 141-for-223 for 1698 yards with 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions.<\/p>\n
