There\u2019s been a surprising amount of turnover at some of college football\u2019s top programs this season. James Franklin<\/a> was fired at Penn State<\/a>, Billy Napier<\/a> at Florida<\/a> and most recently, LSU<\/a> rid themselves of Brian Kelly<\/a>, among others. <\/p>\n

Paul Finebaum doesn\u2019t believe we\u2019ve seen the end of prominent, high profile jobs opening. He predicted that we\u2019re going to see a couple more come to light over the next couple of months in the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re nowhere near the end of that,\u201d Finebaum stated<\/a>, via McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning<\/a>. \u201cI mean listen, if you\u2019re sitting there in Kentucky<\/a> this morning and your program is just crashing and burning, are you going to be able to sell your fan base on, \u2018Hey, listen, we just can\u2019t afford to buy the coach out\u2019? That makes you look like you\u2019re not even in the same league as everybody else.<\/p>\n

\u201cRightly or wrongly, Auburn<\/a> \u2014 would we be having this conversation if Auburn hadn\u2019t come back in the second half? I mean, I don\u2019t think anyone is really safe anymore. That\u2019s the conclusion of the last couple of weeks. I hate to keep saying the same thing, but we are seeing the same thing every couple of weeks, things we\u2019ve never seen before.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never seen anything like Penn State. But in some ways, this is even more dramatic because it\u2019s a shorter time period. This is not a bad coach. This is a good coach with a good program that\u2019s lost to two top-10 teams, and will likely lose to another top-10 team in about 12 days.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Kelly just set himself up. Whether the \u2018fit\u2019 conversation was legitimate or not, he never felt comfortable there. That just may be who Brian Kelly is. He\u2019s a very good football coach, but he has an extremely cold personality to most people.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s certainly a bevy of coaches on the hot seat at the moment. Mike Norvell<\/a> at Florida State<\/a> comes to mind, as well as Jonathan Smith<\/a> at Michigan State<\/a> and Luke Fickell<\/a> at Wisconsin<\/a>. Additionally, it remains to be seen if Bill Belichick<\/a> stays in Chapel Hill for Year 2 in North Carolina<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Continuing, there ripple effect of the hires LSU, Florida and Penn State will make will certainly be a cause for change, as well. Don\u2019t forget about the NFL<\/a> \u2014 it was reported by Dianna Russini of The Athletic that Steve Sarkisian has interest in moving to the professional level<\/a>, even if the Texas leader\u2019s agents came out and refuted it afterwards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll see if Finebaum\u2019s prediction is right, and more coaching moves are made throughout college football. LSU, Florida and Penn State represent a massive trio of openings already.
