Coming into the offseason, the San Francisco Giants<\/a> will look to fill some holes. One of these holes is their lack of high-leverage arms going into the new season.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the trade deadline, they sent Camilo Doval, Tyler Rogers, and Jordan Hicks on their way. This led to Randy Rodriguez taking home the closer roles, but in September, the hard-throwing righty underwent Tommy John surgery.<\/p>\n

Rodriguez is likely out for the entirety of the 2026 season. So, San Francisco must find someone to close the door in the ninth inning when they are ahead. Luckily for them, some intriguing arms will be free agents when the season concludes.<\/p>\n

MLB insider views Giants as potential fit to sign two-time All-Star closer<\/p>\n

One name that could be on the Giants’ radar is Devin Williams. While he struggled this past season with the New York Yankees<\/a>, a change in scenery could be all the righty needs.<\/p>\n

MLB insider Jim Bowden<\/a> predicts that Williams will receive a one-year, $10 million contract and lists the Giants as a potential fit. But they are not the only team listed.<\/p>\n

Bowden also points to a return with the Milwaukee Brewers<\/a>, Atlanta Braves<\/a>, Cincinnati Reds<\/a>, Detroit Tigers<\/a>, and Texas Rangers<\/a> as other potential suitors. So, if San Francisco wants him to close out games, they may have to get aggressive in their pursuit.<\/p>\n

However, the bullpen will not be the only thing on the Giants’ minds. They also have a need to upgrade their starting pitching staff and bring in another outfielder or two after trading Mike Yastrzemski away to the Kansas City Royals<\/a>.<\/p>\n
