The Buffalo Bills were busy trying to make their roster whole again on Tuesday, following yet another defensive starter heading to Injured Reserve. One Bills Drive promoted safety Jordan Poyer and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips to the 53-man active roster, while also sending starting defensive tackle Ed Oliver to Injured Reserve (IR).<\/p>\n

Poyer and Phillips both find their opportunity due to injury, with Poyer\u2019s coming on the heels of safety Taylor Rapp\u2019s IR stint (knee), and of course Phillips\u2019 the result of Oliver (surgery to repair torn biceps) landing there on Tuesday, October 28.<\/p>\n

Despite those moves, Buffalo wasn\u2019t done looking to bolster the defensive ranks. Per a report by Ryan Talbot, the Bills also hosted four defensive linemen, which included defensive tackles Tommy Akingbesote and Ben Stille, plus nose tackles Keondre Coburn and Raekwon Davis.<\/p>\n

Who are the 4 defensive linemen Bills had in for workouts on October 28?<\/p>\n

Nose tackle Raekwon Davis is likely the name most will football fans are familiar with from this group as a player who drew considerable pre-draft buzz. Davis received his start in professional football as a second-round draft pick (56 overall) with the Miami Dolphins during the 2020 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

Davis spent the entirety of his four-year rookie contract in South Beach before signing with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent in 2024. Davis was released in March of 2025, with sources citing a \u201cnon-football illness designation.\u201d Reportedly, Davis\u2019 first training camp began with him on the team\u2019s Non-Football Injury (NFI) list, which he later explained was due to high blood pressure.<\/p>\n

Davis does have a wealth of experience and production, which you can see in detail below. The Bills were likely interested to see if Davis has worked his way back to requisite NFL football shape. That said, he was highly underwhelming with the Colts in a reserve role, and he\u2019s unlikely to garner anywhere near the free-agent contract he signed in 2024.<\/p>\n

Nose tackle Keondre Coburn has spent parts of two NFL seasons with a pair of teams. He entered the league as a Round 6 selection with the Kansas City Chiefs before moving on to the Tennessee Titans as a rookie. Coburn has made one start (2024, Titans) while appearing in 20 total games. He\u2019s found success when given a chance, notching 22 tackles (10 solo), and one tackle for loss between Kansas City and Tennessee.<\/p>\n

Defensive tackle Ben Stille has three years of NFL experience, making one start in 18 games played among four teams. Most of his production to this point has come with the Arizona Cardinals, where he\u2019s spent two stints between 2024 and 2025.<\/p>\n

Defensive tackle Tommy Akingbesote was selected in Round 7 of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He was waived at final cutdowns on August 26.<\/p>\n

Akingbesote was subsequently signed to the Carolina Panthers\u2019 practice squad on September 8, where he remained until his release on September 23.
