{"id":259959,"date":"2025-10-30T03:04:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-30T03:04:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/259959\/"},"modified":"2025-10-30T03:04:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-30T03:04:07","slug":"youtube-offers-employees-voluntary-buyout-amid-ai-pivot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/259959\/","title":{"rendered":"YouTube Offers Employees Voluntary Buyout Amid AI Pivot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/youtube\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">YouTube<\/a> is undergoing a staffing shakeup as the company pivots to focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/artificial-intelligence\/\" id=\"auto-tag_artificial-intelligence\" data-tag=\"artificial-intelligence\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a>, offering its US-based employees voluntary buyout packages with severance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe online video platform, which launched in 2005, is restructuring its products team for the first time since 2015, according to an internal memo from YouTube CEO Neal Mohan, as parent company <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/google\/\">Google<\/a>\u2018s CEO Sundar Pichai has urged staff to embrace <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/ai\/\">AI<\/a> for increased productivity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cLooking to the future, the next frontier for YouTube is AI,\u201d said a YouTube spokesperson in a statement published by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/10\/29\/youtube-offers-voluntary-buyouts-as-company-reorganizes-around-ai.html\">CNBC<\/a>, noting that no roles are being eliminated with the restructure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWith the restructure, Mohan will directly oversee three product groups, with Christian Oestlien leading the subscription products division, which encompasses YouTube Music and Premium, YouTube TV, Primetime Channels, Podcasts and Commerce; and Chief Product Officer Johanna Voolich is heading up the viewer products team, which covers YouTube\u2019s main app, Living Room, Search and Discovery, YouTube Kids, Learning and Trust and Safety.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThis week, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/amazon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Amazon<\/a> announced it was <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/10\/amazon-slashing-housands-of-corporate-jobs-reuters-report-1236599112\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">laying off 14,000 employees<\/a> with more jobs expected to be cut as the company also embraces AI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn a memo shared publicly, Beth Galetti, SVP of People Experience and Technology at Amazon, said \u201cthe world is changing quickly. This generation of AI is the most transformative technology we\u2019ve seen since the Internet, and it\u2019s enabling companies to innovate much faster than ever before (in existing market segments and altogether new ones).
