\n\tA quintet of stars are set to lead the voice cast for \u201cThe Turning Door,\u201d the newly-announced family fantasy epic being written and directed by filmmaker and VFX supervisor Nicholas Ashe Bateman (\u201cThe Wanting Mare\u201d). <\/p>\n
\n\tAlicia Vikander<\/a> (\u201cFirebrand,\u201d \u201cThe Danish Girl\u201d), Jamie Dornan<\/a> (\u201cBelfast\u201d), Jodie Turner-Smith<\/a> (\u201cTron: Ares\u201d), Bill Nighy (\u201cLiving\u201d) and Gillian Anderson<\/a> (\u201cSex Education\u201d) have joined the film, being produced by Christine D\u2019Souza Gelb of 2AM (\u201cBabygirl,\u201d \u201cPast Lives\u201d) with Bateman and Hunter Hall of Maere Studios (\u201cAn Almost Christmas Story\u201d). The film will feature original music and songs written by People Museum\u2019s Claire Givens (\u201cMother Mary\u201d) and Bateman. Production is currently underway.<\/p>\n \n\tMister Smith Entertainment is onboard for international sales and will introduce footage from the film to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market. 2AM is handling North American sales.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe Turning Door\u201d follows a young girl called Ariadlyn, who is sent to bed as a party rages downstairs. Escaping her bedtime, she slips into her parents\u2019 room, where she discovers an ornate wooden box, opening a door to a magical world called The Turning. To find her way back home and save her parents \u2014 now frozen in the real world \u2014 Ariadlyn must seek out a sorceress and her crystal vial. Along the way, she will encounter giants, whales, armies, shapeshifters and acrobatic monkeys as she discovers what it means to grow up.<\/p>\n \n\tThe films marks Bateman\u2019s second feature following 2020\u2019s critically acclaimed sci-fi fantasy \u201cThe Wanting Mare.\u201d He is the founder of Maere Studios, the award-winning VFX and animation studio, designing effects for films such as \u201cThe Green Knight,\u201d \u201cOrigin,\u201d \u201cHocus Pocus 2,\u201d \u201cMother Mary,\u201d \u201cPeter Pan and Wendy\u201d and \u201cAn Almost Christmas Story.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe pictures, places and songs of \u2018The Turning Door\u2019 have been with me since I was a child,\u201d said Bateman. \u201cThematically, its world is a combination of the ones which have filled me with wonder since I was little: the Neverlands, Wonderlands and all those adventures in far-off fantasies.
