Jannik Sinner has already been corrected over comments he made relating to Carlos Alcaraz at the Paris Masters.<\/p>\n

Sinner beat Alexander Zverev to win the Vienna Open<\/a> last week, which was his fourth title of the season and 22nd overall.<\/p>\n

The Italian was even able to do this despite having a concern, with Steve Johnson discussing the \u2018weird\u2019 thing that keeps happening to Sinner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This concern does not appear to be too serious, and Sinner<\/a> is now the highest ranked player remaining at the Paris Masters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As a result of reaching the final of the Vienna Open<\/a>, both Sinner and Zverev<\/a> are yet to play their first matches at the Paris Masters.<\/p>\n

When speaking in his pre-tournament press conference ahead of the Paris Masters, Sinner was asked about the importance of becoming world number one at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

Alcaraz has been world number one<\/a> since beating Sinner in the US Open<\/a> final, ending the Italian\u2019s 65 week reign at the top of the ATP<\/a> rankings.<\/p>\n

Despite it still being a possibility to return to world number one this year, Sinner claimed that it was not in his hands and he would not be thinking about it until 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, it\u2019s impossible,\u201d said Sinner. \u201cHonestly, I\u2019m not thinking about this at the moment. It\u2019s going to be a goal for next year. This year it\u2019s not in my hands. Let\u2019s say it like this.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut considering how the whole year went, you know, we have achieved some incredible things. Now I just want to finish the season the best possible way. If I can do something great, amazing. If not, I did something great already this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will try, for me as also last year was, December is going to be a very important month for me, because I feel like we can make a lot of changes and a lot of work there. Also getting ready for the next season and the beginning of the season, I know how important it is for me for many scenarios.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo let\u2019s see what I can achieve and do there, but I\u2019m relaxed. You know, I\u2019m very happy what I did this year, and then we see what\u2019s coming. And that\u2019s it.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, after Alcaraz was beaten by Cameron Norrie<\/a> in his opening match, the world number one ranking is now very much in Sinner\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n

How can Jannik Sinner become world number one at the Paris Masters?<\/p>\n

Alcaraz\u2019s<\/a> defeat means that Sinner now has full control over his destiny to return to the world number one ranking.<\/p>\n

However, there is only one way that he can do this, with Sinner needing to go all the way to winning the title to reclaim top spot.<\/p>\n

This is something that he has never done at the Paris Masters before, which is by far Sinner\u2019s worst ATP 1000 tournament.<\/p>\n
