Wingo recalled his ESPN days while playing a game of \u201cWing Go or Wing No.\u201d <\/p>\n
When he was asked about making the NFL schedule release an event, Wingo said \u201cno,\u201d and used it as an example of him \u201cfilling the time\u201d on-air.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s why you come up with stuff like the schedule release or funny little bits like \u2018Wing Go or Wing No,\u2019 because there really isn\u2019t enough to talk about,\u201d Wingo said. \u201cThat\u2019s the issue. That\u2019s like half the stuff I watch now, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Why are you talking about that?\u2019 Oh, \u2019cause you have to. Cause you have to fill the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOutside of watching live events and then reacting to it or talking about what\u2019s gonna happen next, it\u2019s all just fodder. It\u2019s all just filler. It is.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026 So I enjoyed it while I did it. If they asked me to do it now, I\u2019d say, \u2018Put a power drill into my head.\u2019 \u2026 All you\u2019re doing is you\u2019re setting up the times. We know how they\u2019re playing, it\u2019s just a matter of when you play it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wingo explained that things seem much different at ESPN now than when he was there.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe used to have a saying on ESPN when we were in cahoots with CNNSI and battling for viewers,\u201d he said. \u201cWe were like, \u2018We don\u2019t take ourselves seriously. We take sports seriously.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd now I feel like it\u2019s the exact opposite. We may talk about sports, but, \u2018Look at what I have to say.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just a very different dynamic now, and if people are enjoying it, God bless you. Go for it. Have fun. I couldn\u2019t do it right now for all the money in the world. I just couldn\u2019t do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
